Jon's New Car

You do realize that AWD doesn't mean shit in snow if your car is like 3 inches off of the ground, right? Even if that didn't matter, driving a 670 horse car in snow would be a... challenge... in and of itself.

i agree that its insane to buy a lambo and put a ski rack on top, but whats wrong with spoilers on fwd cars? theres plenty european sports- or supercars with fwd that make perfect use of a spoiler...

thos are the shit.. you know that was lambos offer to the usa when they wanted applecations for the hummer / hum vee... imgane how balller that would have been..

Can you give an example of a FWD Super Car? I googled for one and didn't really see anything. (Mainly I'm curious, not trying to be a dick)

Dude lambos would be great going to the mountains, they have the same AWD systems as Audi (because audi owns lambo) so he is set there.

Also its really dumb dumb to take a $400,000 (or however much it is) car to the mountains, with out snow tires on it, and Jon is a smart guy, and a good driver, have you seen his track car? Its the same as what some companies use in the 24 hour Le mons racing, and since he's so smart and such a good driver, the ski racks are not gonna be an issue, because he is never going to be able to go over 100 MPH (which is about the speed to when the racks would be an issue) on every day roads, its not an issue, and when he does want to go fast, its not like its a huge pain in the ass to take racks off, maybe 20 minutes are your set.

He has a lambo for the same reason anyone would buy a lambo, ITS A LAMBO!!!

Anyone in their right mind who want a car for the track or to race around with, a Lamborghini would be their last choice.

Lamborghini's are EXTREMELY heavy, (the SV not so much, but there is better choices out there)

Jon bought a lambo because there are crazy fun, and very eye catching, much like him (when he's skiing, so no homo) its a car that in my opinion, matches his personality, and his pro model skis, an eyecatching car, that when it wants to, can be completly INSANE, but also a quiet crusier for when you just want to move around.

But then you have your opinion, im just trying to tell you why Jon would want this.

But i have a question for you, if he should bother getting lamborghini's, what car do you think he should have? A 4X4 with huge tires and a big lift kit? or something else?

Jon is th ultimate ski pro, not in terms of ability but in terms of status. I mean look at him, he lives the typical celeberty lifestyle. He has a place in monico, he dresses well, drives hot cars, has a hot gf, goes to exclusive parties, has high end sponsors.

He's a good role model.

Yeah, because it makes perfect sense to push your useless rear tires into the ground... or not. Barring that, spoilers on FWD cars is rice as fuck. And there are no FWD supercars, sorry to break that to you.

but think about it, all he has to do, is get to a parking lot and then to his helicopter, im sure that the roads are pretty much clear of any fresh snow on the roads, and if he doesn't, im sure his buddy has something else he can use.

he has a race specific car that he doesnt often drive on the road. Its an Ultima GTR and its fast as hell. Go to his videoblog to see some footage of it

that was the car, i couldn't remember the name, but your right, and those thing are fast as fuck, i think they are as fast as the koenigsegg ccx (yes i had to use google to get the name right)

i think that much horsepower does fine in the snow with AWD...

also, what about rally cars? they are AWD 400+HP and they do fine...

That applies to that interview as well...

I hate how people buy into this image shit. It bothers me.

But it's his money, so I'm not knocking what he does with it... he probably just gets it to cultivate his image anyway, will probably make him more than it costs.

That was a pathetic excuse for a blizzard... I live in Northern MI and that... blizzard... is basically a bi-weekly occurrence for us. Also, that guy is retarded to leave his 100k+ car out in the snow like he did.

And yes, rally cars are fine because they are PURPOSE BUILT and the drivers in rally are arguably better than any other discipline.

It's also a pretty big difference between a 415 bhp R8 and a 670 bhp Lambo

lol you know nothing at all. we put snow tires on our gallardo and it was better than the range rover in the snow, drove it all year round oh shitty ice and snow covered ohio roads... and our roads are not smooth at all.

roof rack would hurt high speed though until it ripped off.

just because this is relevant to Jon and his car. Pretty funny cause i think Jon kinda fits this description, just cause he's european and super metrosexual.

good luck finding a better chassis to put it in too, 13inch wide rear tires?? 20 years of refinement and over a 1000 pounds less weight than any of the lambos or other supercars..... goddam

That's the V10 version, a whole different ballgame. And no, HP matters for more than just top end speed. If it didn't, stock Civics would be beating Corvettes all the time.

so... aerodynamics, suspension, tires, weight... they mean nothing?

On a racetrack that has a lot of tight turns, a civic could very well beat out a vette, because hp doesnt really matter there..

also... what about motorcycles.. they have around 100 hp... they do 0-60 in 2.9 or less.. so HP must matter a lot there as well...

Bikes are fast because of the HORSEPOWER to weight ratio.

And here are the times of a Corvette around the benchmark track for all car manufacturers, the Nurburgring:

Corvette ZR1= 7:26.4

Honda Civic Type R= 8:47

To be fair, the ZR1 is the highest trim level available on a C6 Corvette, but the C6 got a 7:59.

As a matter of fact, the FIRST CAR on the list of lap times with under 250 horse is the Lotus Exige S, which weighs 2100 lbs and did it in 8:25.

And yes, aerodynamics, suspension, tires and weight do all play factors in a cars performance, but horsepower and torque do as well.

dude, what are you trying to prove, that your honda civic works is quick? well i hate to break it to you, its not, infact anytime a honda civic is tuned, or worked on, its ALWAYS wrong, i hate some BRIGHT FREEKIN purple honda civic blow a ring right in front of me, and he did nothing special, he just pulled off, i was laughing my ass off untill the the smoke nearly killed me.

but yeah, so far, everyone who talking about Jon using his lambo in the snow, is retarded, we have already figured out he has a land rover. You guys are thinking that this will be his only car, but obviously its not.

Really? No one is going to call him on this?
A. I doubt "you" drove it all year round in Ohio. Exposing a gallardo to the amount salt that Ohio uses is pretty much a destroying it.
B. Ohio roads are not smooth, in fact many of them have giant pot holes from plowing in the winter and "your" gallardo would bottom out constantly.
C. Gallardos are AWD, which would help in the winter as long as "you" are a skilled driver keeping the rpms fairly low. However, unlike a Land Rover, it requires a skilled driver to operate in wet conditions, let alone ice.
