You gotta think what he's done for the sporot though...without him newschool skiing wouldnt even be close to as big as it is.

I dont like Jhonny to much either, this is bad of me seeing as how I dont really know him, he could be the nicest person ever, but from what i see in Vidoeos and mags i dont like him, I even did a engish essay on why I dont want Jhonny Mosley to represent newschool skiing, Id post it but iam lazy to type it up.

i dont think anyone should hate on the guy unless they have actually met him. if i were to judge everyone on here, without knowing them, chances are i would hate 90% of the people. but i dont say shit, cuz i dont know them.

I don't see how you can hate a guy who didn't ask to be the leading figure in newschool (to non skiers). The world got their first exposure to a different type of skiing in nagano as long as some usa pride (cheesy but hey). Everytime moseley makes a public appearance he's reppin' the sport (usually w/ a ski t-shirt, and yes I believe he is reppin the sport and not his company). He's a hell of an athelete too, for the past 3 years, Metlife has hosted an all around competition for the world's best atheletes (includes bigtime football players and such) and mosely has placed 2nd every time. This year he won the marathon and something else, and yes he was wearing the ski t-shirt. The guy is pretty intelligent too, I remember watching when he was on the weakest link and counted him missing only 2 questions the whole time. Sure he doesn't have the best style, and calling his flatspin a dinner roll is rather stupid, but he's not even in the spotlight in the skiing community, it's like he lit the torch and passed it on and settled right back into the fun of skiing. After you've ever seen a video segment where he kills AK, I don't see how you could call him gay.

One of my friends from NJ said to me one time, 'I only know of one freestyle skier, Johnny Mosely.' He really does have alot of exposure to the people and probably is the person who represents the sport more than any other.

one of the reasons im not a big fan of jonney is because of him having so much exposure, and only in the mogul field. so people only think that skiing is freestyle moguls, and that jonney mosely is the best. jonney mosely for skiing is like the tony hawk of skateboarding. people who dont know about skateboarding only know tony hawk and they think he is the best. when he is only good at vert...

 
No one has done as much for freeskiing and bringing freeskiing into the mainstream as much as Moseley. No other skier has ever got the FIS to listen to us and get a trick approved.

 
Saying Jonny Moseley sucks is a very ignorant statement considering his accomplishments. He's trained his entire life to win a gold medal at Nangano, who here has been that dedicated to their skiing career? As for what he's done for freeskiing, its incredible. He has brought freeskiing to the forefront of the world with his FIS style breaking 360 mute and his 'freeskiing' video game. Obviously the video game doesn't portray skiing quite like it is, but the question is does any game? Tony Hawk Pro Skater is a gigantic exaggeration of skateboarding. If you are a first person shooter fan, do you see any realistic games? Counter-Strike is the most unreaslitic first person shooter. The funnest games are games like Unreal Tournament that serve no realism at all. Its what sells, and games like Jonny Moseley sell. As for his Dinner Roll that kicked so many asses when it was big, it won the comps, so why change? Kinda like the Switch Rodeo 7 Tail. It wins, why switch? There is no basis for an argument that Jonny Moseley sucks. He has an incredibly good attitude toward skiing and is one of the nicest guys you could meet.

The dinner roll is the lamest name of a trick in sports. It makes skiers look pathetic, look at freestyle moto, they have cool names like the crippler and shit like that.

the only reason its called 'Jonny Moseley's Mad Trix' is because moseley is the only marketable figure right now. and you know what? the game still isnt selling. hell, everywhere ive seen the game, its kicking around in the $30 bin.

Yea the FIS blows - given. But has anyone else got any moguls commitees to accept tricks. No. Moseley did all the work to help the sport of freeskiing and make people realize that it wasnt a joke and then people are gonna hate on him and call him a sellout cause he chose moguls over freeskiing. THe only reason he had to 'invent' the dinner roll is becasue you cannot go inverted in moguls comps. So he took a d-spin and just made it off-axis. Moseley is an innovator of the sport of skiing and just because hed rather have a gold in the Olympics than anything else hes hated on. Not cool.

 
I don't think you should call anyone a sellout for skiing moguls and reppin the sport in any way possible. Do you really think the ski industry brings in money from freeskiing, we perhaps the smallest revenue maker for the entire skiing industry, our means to ski at the moment comes through the money that goes into ski academies, sanctioned competitions, and companies revenue from just regular ol' skis. It's going to be this way until more skier owned companies come into the mix.

 
Krongros - You gotta respect what you get. Moseley did so much for freeskiing. Granted, he might not portray it in the exact way it should, most people couldn't do that task because to everyone freeskiing is different. You also gotta dish him some respect, because aside from the olympics and his video game, he has brought skiing up front in other ways. He hosted and completely sponsored two massive invitationals, both of which were aired on national television. That definitely oughta give you props. There are only three other comps that I can think of off the top of my head and that's USFSO, XGames, and Gravity Games, I'm prolly missin some, but you get the general idea. He is showing off the sport in a way that he sees it most marketable to the general public. It may not agree with us, but nonetheless, he has drawn several to the parks and brought more glory to the sport. These are the kind of images we need in the sport, regardless if he is following trends. He didn't just get in this for the girls, he got in for it for the same reason as you and i, because he saw it appealing. He took time off because he also wanted to focus on his mogul career and training for Salt Lake.

Sugarloafer19 - It just sounds like you're jealous. Lately, he has been showing a little more moguls because that's what he's best with, but two years ago, he was the main freeskiing icon to the mainstream population. He really helped our sport, and he needs to be respected for that.

 
I wouldn't say the guy sucks but he is definetly a big fag, I laughed when he did not get a medal in the last olympics, because you know he thought he was going to get one.

Line Jibber care to name anything else that is 'gay'? Get some info before you go ripping on everything. Moseley is not bad. He helps the sport grow. More people who have exposure to the sport the more the sport progress. The more the sport progress the better it is for me and you and everyone. Stop bitching and find something worthwhile to do with your time!!!

Scratchcrew - thats real cool to laugh at the one freeskier in the Olympics who had to balls to combine our tricks into their comps. Thats exaclty what im talkin about. He does so much for the sport and then people hate on him. Its retarted.

mosely is sick...he's got style, maybe not as much as some people...but he can ski anything on the mountain, which is more than can be said for some of the lame ass pros out there who only do park...he's exposed the world to newschool skiing and should be praised for that...GO MOSELY (and did anyone see his 360 mute in 13 where he pulls his ski off and lands on one foot...if you can do that...then you're a true skier)
