New thread for snow reports I plan to update during pre and post season. Goal to add pictures and more reports soon.

Snowed in high elevations last weekend and 30% chance of precip tomorrow.

Lil birdees say:- Lolo Peak (6 mile hike) is still fresh from last weekend - Trapper (3 mile hike) is still good- GNP (0.5 mile Logan hike) had fresh, no further report

Listing for future reports:
- Crystal Theater- Jewel Basin (https://www.newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/thread_id/299149/)- Wishard Ridge- Sky Pilot- Marias Pass- Gardner Headwall- Elk Meadows- Little St. Joe Peak- Grey Wolf Peak- Gash Point- Hoodoo Pass (http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/snotel/snotel.pl?sitenum=530&state=mt)+ others

Feel free to add info and locals, thanks.

nice idea for a thread... +karma..

this isnt really much to report on but showdown has been getting a few flakes here and there but none is sticking... but it looks as if we may have an early winter...

Go knock on some wood. ALthough an early winter would be sick, especially because we had one last year, I am kind of worried that the new lift at bridger isn't going to get finished.

A little off topic, but I wonder if the new tram at JH will be ready. Last March when I was there a patroller told me that many employees at the resort werent very confident it could be done even if there was a long, dry fall. He also had a lot of dirt on Big Sky (different topic all together) lol

Haha, if there isn't a running lift I'll be skiing Slushman's anyway! If there is, I'm not sure how often it will be open, the main face seems to stay pretty thin most years. But when it is open, the terrain is really, really sick. Lots of opportunities for creative lines and cliffs as big as you want, plus easy access to D-Route.

Also, it definitely appeared to be snowing on the big sky webcam this afternoon. I may go cruise around on my bike up at bridger tomorrow and hopefully check on lift progress.

I'm really curious to see how often that lift will be open.

i see what your saying..

yeah if you went to a awesome ski area like showdown you wouldnt have to worry about that becasue they would never get new lifts... hahah... and to the locals at showdown who are reading this post, no the magic carpet does not count as a "new lift"

Lets just say certain management decisions at Big Sky affected the liability insurance of many larger ski areas, therefore making ski patrols jobs at many areas harder.

The third is the sweetest site. Drag the red dot on the map to whereever you want to ski. Download Google Earth for more exact coordinates and vertical estimations.

Oh yeah, PBP last night. No dance off for skis but a push-up contest. Snowbowl's resident skier, Rasputin won 3 times in the raffle. I somehow scored yet

another unbelievable quote of what a famous ski industry person has said to me.

We're gonna be seein some snow this weekend ladies and gents!!!! Headin up to Gardiner/Cooke city tomorrow to get some of the first turns of the season. FUUCKKKK YEAAHHHHH

(After Pep told me who he was and that the pics on the posters he was signing were from Chile this summer, I pulled out my camera to show Pep a pic)

Me: Check this out (hand Pep my camera) . . . its a line that exists right now about an hour north . . south of here. You could go ski it tomorrow or you could have skied it today . . . (stoked babble about summer snow spots around MT).

Pep: Did you ski it?

Me: Yep, two weeks ago (actually on sept 19)

Pep: Oh, so you're hardcore

Me: (blushing and unable to respond)

Have hiked some days since last post/login. Made about 3 "girl squeal" turns (out of 36+ sketchy turns) in an untouched windblown 36` meadow today up towards Lolo Peak. Seasonal closing of the road to Lolo Peak trailhead has been extended from Nov 15 to Dec 1! Yesterday, another skier and their dog broke the freshie seal with one lap, ski tracks appeared to be tele, think his initials are BA. Today, our group did a couple laps. As we were hiking down, two other skiers were hiking up separately, each with a dog. The dude I knew of these two was the first to lay skin tracks up the trail, in turbospeed too. He even shared some other local stash reports without slowing down. The recent snowfall is pretty tracked out in the open areas near the trail so don't go up there and get lost in the pursuit of fresh turns.

I'm happy to share other reports firsthand with friendly people

getting a bit warm and wet in these parts. skied about a foot and a half of cement in beehive basin yesterday. super heavy. needs to get colder.
