Jon, Pollard, and Candide

I basically decided that there are 3 main "in air" styles that are the most commonly mimicked in the skiing world.

Jon-Machine. Doesn't move a muscle, super tech.

Pollard-Relaxed, chill, mellow, and dare I say...lazy?

Candide-Super tweaky.

I think that even if you don't try to mimic their styles, everyone falls into one of the categories. I'm just saying "in air," not even talking where they ride or what type of terrain. Yes, there are big mountain riders, yes, there are pipe/park rats, racers, mogul skiers, and whatever else.

If you aren't in any one distinct category, you are a combination. Like Pep. Perfect balance of all of them.

So the question is....where do you fall (or where would you like to...what is your preference?)

I think you should post this in Ski Gabber, because it is interesting.

I prefer Pep Style though.

yeah man, would be an awsome post for ski gabber.

i would also add a style that is quite often copied is Tanners style. for instance his stance on rails, super lowdown gorrilla steeze. and his no grab of axis 360 form a few years back.

me personally, i just try and be as fluid as i can, (no rolling down the windows), make every movement look calculated and smooth.

tanners steeze is so dope that its hard to mimic, but i like pollards style and try to do it like he does i guess... never really thought about it.

ive been told that i have tanner like rail style though im not that great at the jibing, in the air id say im more like pollard/candide

if im just gonna chuck in any style itd be pollard.

basically cos being perfect is too hard & im not flexible enough to be super tweaked (i got a midair cramp off a dive board once)

who do you think tanner got his arms down, wider legged steeze from...pollard

In air style is one thing, but no one can touch Mickeal's zero-impact landing steeze.

im gunna throw TJ in there, just becuase in war his mutes are soo so so tweaked like the skis are oposite of eachother, like tip to tail and such, or thats how it looked in war

everyone has their own style. you can't limit to those catergories. if you're trying to look like them, then thats different. but if you ski how you want to ski and dont let anything influence that, then you'll be yourself. not jon, pollard, or candide.

I have to say that Candide's style looks pretty sweet, just like Rainville's or Chuck Gagnier... true grab that is

If i was one style I reckon Pollard, I prefer uncrossed grabs and smooth rotations but I like the Pep alround stle lots too.

tanner took hood boys riding style and forced it. not saying he isnt good. thats just how it went i think.

I think those are like the best guys out there, yes dumont and tanner kick ass but those three really rip. jon is ny favorite for park, pollard=newschool backcountry kick assness and candide goes so damn big. all very nice and i agree with your statement

i agree with what you say. but i think t-hall style is mimicked much too. those 4 are what you see.

jon's got the ultimate no impact landing style, look at his landings on that super park hip a couple years back, his switch landings look so effortless... and whoever said candide's style is no style, come-on man we all know thats just not true, were do u think gangier (or however u spell his name) got his style

I think of my style if anything is like TJ schiller cause i do criticals like him, but i dunno, im no where close to being as good as him.

Yhea I think pollard has the nicest style, probably because of his super wide skis. He defenetly has the smoothest style. I wonder what it would do if he crossed his skis while beiing as low as when he does a simple safety.?

If anyone has lazy style...it's Heed, you can't ever tell if he's trying and he doesn't need to claim shit afterwards.

yeah what about style on rails, its a lil more abstract, but its important... pep's got it, so does tanner or candide...

in case theres any confusion, not trying to say that everyone has to copy a certain style. usually, there are riders that influence you, but that doesn't mean you have to copy them. so basically, whose style "influences" you more....
