In the qualification he basically says that gus' switch double was bad and that he shouldn't have qualified. Wtf? It seemed like he was serious about it too.

King Of Style qualifications from Jon Olsson on Vimeo.

its because its the king of STYLE, and no disrespect to gus, he just doesn't have the as good of style as some of the other guys

gus took that guy out. and yah its the king of style, which means a no grab double shouldn't make finals. duh.

and on a more positive note, phil casabon KILLED that 9. hooly shit

lol jon is talking about shitty double flips with no grabs and running into the fence while Gus is right behind him

jon made a valid point..... the comp is called the KING OF STYLE, if you run into a fence on your landing...prolly didnt land the trick with too much style.

i completly agree it was bullshit the ranking came out to be shit it wasent really the king of style i still have a hard time believing that tom and henrik didnt get 1 and 2 idk even know what happened with twall tho.

kos wa the name of the comp.

gus grabbed his double with a safety grab wich is nbot tech but what the hell was that guy doing in the landing area anyway, it's not like the landings are that wide on city big airs...

that being said, even tho I like Gus and I tink he'll be a force to reckon with in the future, I seriously doubt that that tricks hown on the video deserved a 2nd palce qualification spot.

i totally agree with Jon, it was pretty much bull. I will give props to Gus for wrecking that guy in the landing though hahaha

It was Cosco, so I'm assuming he went before Gusd was leaving through that gate there to go jump again or whatever.

And I agree with what Jon said 100%. I wasn't there, nor did I see every jump, but c'mon.

And I respect him for not being afraid to say how he feels.

I think he should have pointed out that it is cool that someone almost half his age is throwing a switch double, since he is all about progressing doubles. He was pretty apathetic for gus.

Just watching the JO Video clip it looked like Kentworthy was going to hit the fence regardless of anyone being there. It looked like his tails on his skis were touching the airbag-fence thing as soon as he was about to spin his skis around. Then again the video isn't from the best view point to judge how reckless or how in control he was, it would be better if the video was from the bottom.

Jon; the consumate professional? it would appear not.
Dont talk like that about fellow competitors, especially when they're right behind you. it's just rude.
i thought gus' trick was sick, maybe not 2nd place sick, but better than henriks, so good enough to qualify and thats all that matters. i hope he wins just to shut Jon up, he's getting carried away with his own self-importance.

wtf jon grabbed his double with a safety grab...he should not have gotten second. the only reason his trick was stylish at all was because of the landing, in the air he didn't look too good in my opinion.

I definetly think that Jon's word choice (shitty) wasnt appropriate. I mean, it wasnt perfect, but it definetly wasnt shit.

everyone is thinking way to hard about jon dissin on gus, the way i see it is gus dident really have the style on his jumps that was needed for this comp............

still wasn't that steezy to me, he was hucking it around wayyyyy fast.
on another note, i really wanted to see henrik's cork 9 tail i think that coulda been really solid.

was that video the whole qualifier? Because there could have been more "shitty doubles". I thought Gus's double was pretty smooth, but he wasn't entirely in control on the landing. I thought his looked better than JF's. I still don't fully understand why people would have been throwing doubles on a city jump, especially since the idea of the competition is apparently to have the best style. IMO they could have done smaller, slower spins with better/more innovative grabs and concentrated on sticking the landing, like last year when Richard Permin's 7 beat Tj's 1260, of course it does show how much the sport has progressed. since last year, that pretty much everyone who qualified was throwing doubles or 12s and they looked at least pretty good. Also PK's Dub cork 12 is just ridiculous and totally deserved the win. Also I think it's pretty whack that at least 2 of the judges are on coreUPT (TJ and Permin) and they are judging their teammate(s)

Can't speak for Wallisch but the reason Henrik didn't do well is pretty simple actually...the competition was called King of STYLE and he just hucked himself sketchily. If anyone but Henrik was to throw down a shitty switch 12 and attempt the 14 he would have got nothing but hate from NS. Henrik is dope skier but why are people fuckin obsessed with him.

this isnt a very big deal. jon just said what he thinks which happens to be the truth. by the way henrik is a pretty funny guy

your an idiot. How about Jon doesnt huck those doubles as fast lets see what happens. Then he will land on his head from not getting around in time. some people have to think

No offence to Jon but i think that he sounds like a little bitch right there. Yeah gus' double wasnt perfect but it was still sick and better than Jons

CHRIST ALL FUCKING MIGHTY. HE WASNT FUCKING HATING ON GUS, HE WAS HATING ON THE GODDAMN JUDGING. PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES AND FUCKING LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAID.

AND MAYBE READ THE THREAD HE MADE!!!

1 it was just qualifiers2 maybe he shouldnt have qualfied 23 its a sick trick4 Jon's comment was just plain unprofessional!!!!!
