Some of you might not care at all, or might find this to be a stupid thread but........HOW DOES HE DO IT????????

Can someone please explain to me how much money Jon is worth/ how much he makes yearly? I've heard in Sweden/ Europe he is a superstar and his status can be compared to any top athlete or entertainer here in America. (how true?) Also considering the fact hes owned two Lambos and property in Moroco, He must make sevral times more than anyone who puts skiis on as a profession. So basically I was wondering:

How much money does he make?

And as a skier, How does he make sooooooooo much more then the other athletes in this industry?

Also was Jon wealthy before he made it as a skier?

hes just a bigger name in sweden not just a pro freestyle skier, as much as they are appriciated and payed in the U.S. so the bigger hype comes with more zeros on his checks. he is smart though, i've read he has alot of his money working for him, but who really knows i wouldn't want people to know how much i was worth if i had dough like that.
becides i think as far as JOSS and JOI go, i also read (and it's pretty obvious) it's not really his money, i'm sure he chips in somewhat but the sponsors pay for almost all of it... if they didn't there wouldn't be banners all over everything. which is smart as hell, he can get other people to pay for his event and have a humongous budget.

1. He is an entrepreneur, who takes chances and works with companies who will back him and give him a financial interest and input into design and marketing instead of him just being a team member.

2. Monaco is VERY different to Morocco as far as geography and tax implications go. That is a very big point.

- At the end of the day, think of any pro who has taken the chance of leaving a reliable sponsor to pursue something which looks like an opportunity. I think you would have a tough time finding one.

In my eyes, most pro's get a sponsor and cherish it and keep them a a security blanket (and I don't blame them!).. Jon cherishes it (e.g. Oakley for 10 yrs), but then also keeps his eyes out for further opportunities on the horizon which is why he is driving a Lamborghini right now and simon and tanner aren't.

In now way am I drawing lines between what the best of the best are capable of, but honestly Jon has taken more initiative than ANY other professionals in this sport, and that can't be disputed.

Jon is one of those guys who can identify something when it comes around an he acts on it. Other people try to make an 'inviational', but really it is a mimic to gain what the JOI and JOSS achieve as far as PR and coverage for the industry. Same with the Jon's updates.

He pioneered the concept of ongoing updates and now everyone is doing the same. (which is a fantastic thing for the sport.)

That is why he has got where he has.

Think of any business. If you think of something before the next man and actually DO IT, the you'll make the cash. Everyone else will make their money, but they will be left in the dust compared to the pioneer of it all.

He does not own the Lambo or the apartment in Monaco. He leases both. I would hardly call those smart investments. A car might be the worst investment there is since it is a depreciating asset. Now, that being said:
1. He has his logo on that car so it immediately becomes a business write off on his taxes and all payments towards it reduce his taxable liability. With a lease payment on that of around $2500 a month (estimated), that is a large annual write-off.2. Monaco is a safe haven for European Professional athletes due to the minimal tax exposure. Since he travels so much during the year, as long as he has his "residence" in Monaco he can save a lot of money that would normally be paid towards taxes. Especially in comparison to the taxes he would pay in Sweden.3. He signs long term deals with sponsors and the popularity of his video blog is attractive to sponsors because of the exposure those brands get. He also can stresses the financial model of those companies which is why J Lindberg had to drop him and Cross may very well go out of business as Jon's annual contract compensation continues to grow (it has annual increases I understand). He signed a 6 year deal with them and they definitely will try to find a way out of paying 300K plus annually to him in the coming years.
Jon is a very marketable, likable, approachable, and talented athlete. He seems to represent his sponsors well and puts on extremely popular events that allow those sponsor to gain additional exposure. By having them fund it he can try to take on less/none of the financial burden of those events. I have heard that he does still take a personal loss on the events, but that does show his generosity.

im a business student, and i have taken some courses on these types of subjects. the reason he has so much money and has done so well with his career is that gorgeous flowing golden hair. its physics.

Jon would probably win the American Idol contest of skiers if there was such a thing.

I agree with people saying he is marketable and such. He sounds smart, he sounds like he probably has a financial consultant that is advising him well.

So many athletes make poor purchases.

Even if I made $500k a year I wouldn't own a lambo.

I think there is a point where you say okay this is fucking retarded, $200k for a car even if it is a tax write off.

I would rather have Jeep or Subaru just give me new vehicles for free duh...

And I would want Kraft to supply me with mac and cheese to....I would hit that big air jump, land switch and catch a bowl of easy mac and take a big bite of it....

So true man. He works hard. Step one. He wants everything he does to be perfect, not some half ass project that no one remembers. That's true for his skiing too.

He traded in his old lamborghini to get the new one. And I am pretty sure he leases it, like some one said earlier.

Not True ^^
I don't know about the new Lambo, but in an article (can't remember which magazine), they specifically asked him, so Jon, is the lambo leased or did you buy it? He said he bought it. And he's obviously not lying.
