Jon Olsson is loaded. But i just dont get how? Like is it how long he's had big name sponsors or his invention of tricks?
I didnt think being a pro meant driving a million dollar ferrari in the gum ball 3000
 
Every time somebody lands a kangaroo flip they have to pay Jon 2000 swedish krona. It adds up after a while.
 
i feel like when JON rose to the height of his career freeskiing wasn't as popular in his home country as it was in the united states
 
Jon invented skiing. So every time you buy a lift pass, skis or anything to do with skiing he gets a percentage of it.

But in all seriousness, it's probably because he's smart and made some good business decisions.
 
i agree he comes from money. owning a goggle company does not give ou the kind of money to live the lifestyle he does
 
Aside from his vehement work ethic, Jon is rich because skiing is actually a recognized sport in Europe, unlike America where it's mostly an upper-class ruse to justify mountain resorts.
 
I think in sweden professional skiers are pretty highly regarded and Jon is like the face of freeskiing. So he got mad sponsors mainly J. Lindberg. They paid him pretty well and he pretty much became a male model for them.
 
stockbroker before skiing, met big rigs + made alot of money, huge impact on skiing, icon in sweden from skiing, big rigs + skiing = big sponsors, its all been adding up.
 
It's always funny to see how an innocent (perhaps slightly stupid) question can provoke such rampant and ill founded speculation, passed of as facts.

No he didnt. Poc was started by a gentleman who wanted his son (who raced) to have better equipment after multiple concussions.
 
Jon is a very popular, and mainstream athlete in Sweden. I believe his money comes from his sponsors. No skier, not even Bode Miller, or Jonny Moseley in his day, has the same profile in the US that Jon does in Sweden. To my knowledge, it is simply a question of Jon making more from his sponsors than anyone in the US does. Bode Miller might be an exception, as he makes 7 figures, but there are numerous athletes in the US making money. Jon is one of only a handful of big name athtletes in Sweden.

He may have made good business decisions, I would not know.

I believe he has invested well, but investing well is not going to take someone making 150k a year to having a Lamborghini, unless you were somehow able to invest in Facebook or Linkedin. Most people who get in on the ground floor of those companies are venture capitalists, who tend to have a fair bit of money. If what I have heard about Jon is true, he makes enough money to be a bit of a venture capitalist. I don't know for certain though. The point I am trying to make is that in order to make such business decisions, it takes a high salary to begin with. Jon has an apartment in Monaco. If he owns it, you are talking about at least 1.5m, in all likelihood. His Lamborghini is also quite pricey. That type of wealth takes a high salary, or starting your own company. As I said before, 150k a year in salary will not bring someone to that level.

I have heard that Henrik WIndstedt has also moved to Monaco. If that is the case, the Swedes are cetainly paying their freeskiers well.
 
Or it could be that both of those freeskiers that are mentioned are literally two of the best ALL around skiers in the world. Henrik was in teddy bear crisis and then won the FWT. Jon takes no explanation.

As far as Monaco apartment costing 1.5 million? I doubt it. That's expensive as all hell, even in my city. (San Francisco).

Also his sponsors are rather worldly known vs someone like saga or a smaller company.

As others have said it's probably a combination of different things from being a boss at skiing, sponsors, wise business investments, maybe from a wealthy family, and of course his good looks. Don't get me wrong, I'm straight as an arrow but it is a big advantage to be an attractive athlete.

Quality investments, check.

One thing trumps them all, family money!
 
He is like the Rob Dyrdek of skiing.

With the money he got he invested it and did well instead of spending it on a party lifestyle like most other skiers. (Not saying its bad, you just wont make as much money)

In europe skiing is also a much larger part of their life style which means more $$$

Apartments in Monaco are more expensive then in San Francisco, and by a good bit. If you do some research, you will find that 1.5m is a pretty normal. Monaco is a haven for the uber wealthy, due to practically no taxes. People in Sweden pay enormous taxes, hence the reasons for relocating to Monaco.

Just do some research on the subject. If you check out available apartments, you will find the CHEAPEST, a studio is 650,000 euros. The normal prices for 1 bedrooms are close to 2m EUROS, so in dollars 1.5 million is on the low end.

Or, he might actually know how much an apartment costs in Monaco. It is not very hard to find information. Just look it up. Look for real estate web pages on Monaco, they're out there!
 
Didnt know he was sponsored by Lamborghini...but i feel like hes the Rob Drydek of skiing. Business and pleasure combined into one very rich person.
 
Wow, had no idea. That's absolutely ridiculous for pricing of an apartment. I mean I'm sure the place is like paradise but damn thats expensive.

I knew Jon lived down there but had no idea it cost that much...

hes a fuckin rockstar in sweden, also cuz he works really hard all the time to stay in shape so he can race and freeski at the same time. guy is fuckin jacked. plus hes got hq bank sponsor ship and invests in all that shit. plus i would this JOI and JOSS make him money apart from his investments too
 
yes because that'd be relevant if you knew which apt. he bought and when and the terms of his ownership... could you kids please stop pretending like you work at TMZ?
