Jon Olsson recently claimed his new "tornado" flip...... many believe that it is just a sw dub cork 12, since Jon claimed it as a new trick I would love to hear his argument because im sure its a good one..... soo any insight?

ps. I believe that it is just a switch dub cork 12 with some serious style. But I would love to hear from Jon himself as to why it isnt.... make it happen!!

i wuld actually like to hear his own explanation too! goo thread although people will probably tell you otherwise

The last 5 is flat, and I definitely think that makes his switch dub 12 look way different. But honestly Jon, it's still a switch dub 12...please just call it that and continue making it look awesome.

It is switch dub cork 12

but he does the second one reall late

he does switch cork 9 the brings it back up for like flat 3/cork 3 i guess

it is switch dub 12 but real late

new trick

but stick to calling it switch dub 12

his latest blog entry:

Good morning!

Lets talk names!

I agree that naming my double 10 a DJ flip was not the best idea as its just a double 10 and done many times before. But when I first put it to my feet on the steep water ramps it was a completely different rotation, a bio/cork 7 to real rodeo 5, then it turned into a cork 7 to cork 5 and was just a different looking dub 10 and 12. At the time I thought it was something new, but the more I did it the more it just turned into a dub 10 with a slightly different rotation. My bad!

The Tornado, when I landed it and first saw the video I thought it was very far from anything I had seen, sure there has been switch 12s with doubles corks/flips in done before, but to me they looked pretty far from what I did. My first thought when I saw the trick was that it look completely crazy, something that was just spinning out of control, hence the Tornado.

The way I think of it is to set a switch 630 that is as corked as possible (if it turnes into a flip it creates problems in the second flip) and then make sure to keep spinning into the second cork and do another switch cork 630.

Some people like calling tricks switch dub 12s, some like different names, I like them weird but find it very interesting to see what a discussion ”the tornado” name has stirred up on forums when names like below are everyday words in our sport…

-K-Fed

-Super K- Fed (I just found out about this one..;-)

-Blunt

-Pretzel

-Lou Kang

-Bow and Arrow

-Japan

-Lazyboy

-Bio

Time for me and Crill to hit the slopes and give you guys a Slopestyle video blog!

JON

Well it appears mr Olsson has said it best

still tho its just as easy to say swtich dub 12 as tornado

k-fed is easier then frontside change up blind side 270 out

pretzel is easier to say then 270 on 270 off the other way.

blunt is a kind of grab not a made up name (tail is different then true tail)

japan is a grab. it was in tony hawk pro skater 1 i think it counts

wat ever its only named if people actually call it that

if i saw this trick id call it a switch dub 12 but really late and really sick

sorry mr olsson

You sir, are incorrect. How dare you misspell the best trick in the history of freeskiing.

it was sick, if he inverted his second part maybe it be a new trick?

Reminds me a bit of the 'Dinner roll' in 2002. we all knew it was a cork 7

Eitherway props Jon looked sick

The original dinner roll was way more gay than a cork 7. It was a weird flatspin to pinned rotation. He did up to 10's I think. when he brought it to the bumps, it was totally a cork 7. I thought his run in 2002 was pretty dope, and should have won.

I just want to see jon throw some different grabs. he used to have the best.

If there has ever been a time for someone to be perma-banned based on spelling, this is it. You would think that a freeskiing legend would know how to spell the greatest trick in the history of the sport, but I guess this just confirms that Jon's grab knowledge is limited to only "safety".
