All the other teams have been killer guests and a pleasure to take care.

(Big shout out to team NS for being the group of most stoked skiers I

have seen in a long time, thats what this sport is about!) We are now

only ONE day away from the first video to be released, I think all of

you are going to love all of them!

I was wondering if he would say something. I am really glad he did. What I want to know is who actually leaked this video. I have always defended Dumont when people hate on him here so I really don't want to hear that it was him who leaked this.

does anyone know who actually did this?

It came up on empireattire.com so it'd seem to be Simon? I like Dumont, he got me into freeskiing and I don't think its such a bad thing that he's so focused on winning and so disappointed when he loses. However, dick move to leak the video (whoever it was) when Jon put so much effort into making the event happen and making it possible for them to make such a sick edit. He obviously put a lot of effort into the event and its him who's going to be held responsible by the sponsors. Also, he said team America didn't even say goodbye to him when they left? That's unbelievably disrespectful. If you're not happy with the results take it up with Jon personally, don't sulk about and jeopardise the quality of next years JOSS by leaking the video and pissing off the sponsors. /rant
P.S. Team NS, most stoked. Awesome!

Well Simon had the video on Empire site and Wallish had a link to it on his twitter telling everyone to check it out so they defiantly weren't trying to hide it... Super lame though and heaps of disrespect to Jon. And leaving with saying thanks or goodbye is pretty low.

I think Dumont posted it, but Wallisch got people to see it.

Work??

"Seeing Team America doing this really makes me sad, I have worked super hard to make this event happen and even harder to make sure that all the teams have a great time in Åre. So to see Team America not speaking to me or saying good bye because of their score to then then leak their video makes me almost wonder why I work my ass of to make this happen. (I am not organizer, not the judge, as an organizer I did adjust the criteria to the JOSS competitors requests.)"

Wow, I didn't realise they released it because they weren't happy with their score. That's just low. I wonder if the adoration is finally going to Tom's head

Oh, and btw, none of this shit would have happened if me, 1337., VCharette, Holte and Mike-O had been in Team America, as originally planned

That was not a nice thing to do, even if they don´t win the videoaward they still have 2 weeks all expenses paid in Sweden pretty much and not from their own sponsors but JOSS get that shit done.

Photographers and they get alot of sick stuff for upcoming coverage in magazines etc, exposure during the event and they show all skiers and all teams not only the winning team which is not the case if you look at X-games or most other events where it´s about the podium ONLY. Here the riders get tons of photos for their sponsors, magazines etc etc.

Man this is a weeeeeird situation. Never imagined Tom would have deliberately done this. Not as surprised about Simon since he is Jon's "friend" and super competitive. Any word on Schlopy's involvement???

Leaking the video is a classy Simon move. I wouldn't really expect anything else! And if that wasn't bad enough, leaving without saying bye... That's just low!

here's tom's response on why they leaked it:

and yes, iv'e posted this before, but those threads got deleted so whatever

I'm all up for "anti-establishment" action when it comes to freeskiing, but all this "people need to see it asap, we worked hard" ...sure you did, but you were there for two weeks all expenses covered, so why not stick by the organizer's schedule and rules? Like someone mentioned, sponsors paid money to get this event going by being guaranteed logos in videos etc. This is bad publicity and it could hurt the whole event in the future.

Leaving without saying goodbye and thanks, rumors is that Jon even called them both and they did not pick up. Lame, I guess it even was to the cell phones the JOSS crew hooked all riders up with thru some sponsor.

They definitely didn't leave without saying goodbye. Most of the skiers (including Simon, Schlopy, Tom, AJ Dakoulas, and Josh Knox) are all still stuck here in Sweden because of the volcano. Simon and Jon had a talk the same day the video was leaked and patched everything up.
I definitely understand why Jon is so upset, I would be to, but no one is seeing Team America's side. They didn't bad mouth the other competitors, Jon, or JOSS. They were just upset by the outcome and so they put their video online. They worked hard and put out the best video and they wanted everyone to see it as soon as possible....

Oh, it said in Jons post that they left without saying good bye, maybe he just meant the awards night?? I get why they were so upset, i mean Simon clearly puts everything he has into every competition and so he takes it hard when it doesn't pay off. But leaking it was very unprofessional.

on t-walls facebook he posted like 3 or 4 things saying to spread the word and such. It kinda sucks after all the hard work jon put into it

i hate that everyone is dumping this on dumont when there is clearly other members to the team to be blamed... ie, Tom, Alex, and the filmer... it definitely was a collective decision to post the video..

Jon stated he is posting them spread out for drawn out web stats and inbound leads.. he wants to make as much money as possible.. the longer the videos take to be put up, the more ad time people have to pay for, and the more those ads are clicked on, the more money jon makes.. knowing TeamAmericas would be anticipated because of the outcome means more traffic to HIS site, not Empires.. thats why he's mad!

i dont get it. you would think that after all these years, someone who is in an industry that is based on head to head competition, people wouldnt throw a temper tantrum when they didnt win something; and would instead be stoked for their peers.
w.e this really didnt change my day at all, just find it ironic.

If I was Jon I wouldn't invite Tom, Simon, others back. They wanna make their own edit, they can pay for the transportation, jumps and lodging

Wow...this is such a bad move. I mean, they were taken extremly car of during two weeks, they had killer features to ski, they had an awesome event going down with awesome people all around.

I

nstead of saying :" Thanks Jon, your event was sick, we loved it and it's some of the best 2 weeks we've ever had." they just fucked up Jon's rules (which were very understandable and correct) and a part of his event. Sponsors are the most important part of making an event happen, especially in this case where everybody is staying over there for two weeks straight.

They leaked the video and it already has 28 265 views... That means a lot of views are not getting any sponsor recognition.

Hands down one of the worst moves made from skiers to other skiers. Thanks Wallisch and Dumont. I just lost a lot of respect for Tom (seeing how much he wants to get the video out there before its time) and I already had a low percentage of respect for Dumont...now it's even worse.

I'm pretty sure Schlopy had not much to do with it and I don't see the filmers doing it either.

Anyway, such a dick move.

i just hope everyone realizes (which its apparent they dont), JOSS doesnt pay for everything like everyone is saying. airfare? not provided. food? shitty ass mcdonalds equivalent the whole time. alcohol? not provided. and now teams are stuck there for what? 2 extra weeks? (i know this was under nobodies control) but now the riders and more so the filmers (most filmers are NOT made of gold) have to pay hundreds and thousands of extra dollars to stay there and NOT be getting anything done back in the states. i can see the frustration when you put a lot of work into something, and i know we havent seen the other videos, but i dont know really how much better the skiing can get.

I work with Simon.I never have any problems with him, ever.He works incredibly hard all day everyday.I have a ton of respect for Simon.

Well, I can't be sure 100% of course... but at least I have not seen Alex promoting it in any way.

cuz dumont posted it on empire and wallisch posted it on twitter 3 different times. if schlopy was involved he would have posted it somewhere else and same thing goes for the filmers. The only two posts of the video i have seen were by dumont and wallisch.. not cool after all the hard work that jon has put in to make this event sick

great. changes nothing. dick move from team america, there's no getting away from it. this is the sort of shit you'd expect in other sports from the likes of white, sheckler, irons etc. not cool for skiing.

I just feel that it's really disrespectful of Tom and Simon to leak the video. I understand that they are upset, and I would be too, it's going to be hard for the three other videos to beat their video in my mind, but that's beside the point. They are guests at a contest that Jon works his ass off to put on, and everyone else is humbled by the fact that they were invited to this (especially Team NS), and Simon and Tom leaking the video is just sheer disrespect. I don't know if Alex or the filmers had any involvement in leaking it, but it seems that Dumont and Tom were the driving forces behind it

also, i wonder what josh knox's views/involvement in all this are... what with being jon's old videoblog filmer and all...

this- i could understand being pissed off- but by doing this they are killing jon - look how many hits that video has already- thats all money that jon had planned on- theoretically if they had signed a contract or rules etc, jon could probably sue the shit out of them for lost revenue

I had one of the best times of my life out here skiing with the guys I grew up Idolizing, and honestly I thought all the videos were sick as can be and all the skiers had a great time making each edit. Jon is probably the nicest guy I've ever met, and I've learned a ton of things from hanging out with him, Simon, Wally and what not, and it sucks to have people think that team America is trying to sabotage the event! Simon and Tom invited me here which made me so stoked, and to have this bad rep right off the bat kind of sucks... so, personally, I'd like to thank Jon for putting together one of the world's most diverse and amazing events, and for putting in so much hard work and effort... and shout out to ALL the teams for F****** killing it so hard! And on a side not- If Jon ever invited me back, all the rules would be played by on my part.
-Love, Schlopy :D

it will be interesting to see the 3 videos that beat team america. either way tho i always got the vibe that JOSS wasnt really about winning. i mean 1st place is 20k which (split 5 ways=$4000 a piece) isnt a huge payout compared to other major comps. just doesnt seem worth causing trouble over. america should realize that all teams benefit from this event win or lose just from the publicity, not to mention how all the athletes are treated in Are. It pains me to see my favorite skier (Twall) do this, i hope everything gets cleared up

did you cats really not speak to the organizer or say goodbye? just curious, cuz that would appear pretty ungrateful. and would seem like sore losers. dumont-"I dont make the rules"

i doubt its Jon making money. what those hits do is determine sponsorship $$ for next years event. just like last years videos determined sponsorship for this years event.

I personally thanked Jon... not sure what the others did, but with myself being the underdog/ new kid I have no expectations of winning (I have just as much fun getting last as I do first), just always out to have a good time, and Jon provided a great time- thanks Jon!

werdup Schlopy, you will definitely be invited back haha.
without a doubt everyone worked their ass of at JOSS whether it be filming/editing, skiing or organizing. at first i was a kind of bummed that team america "leaked" their edit but it was definitely not meant to hurt the other teams and especially not meant to hurt JOSS as an event.
Jon definitely handled this lil dilemma really well and i hope everyone is invited back next year because the teams were sick. I think everyone learned from this little mishap and i doubt it would happen again.
