Jon Olsson should try a triple.

The triple was also HUGE on a BC booter. I feel like the size or amount of flip/spin needs to be more dependent on the size of the jump. Switch 16? Fine.. On a huge table or backcountry hit.

To all the people who say triple flips would not look good:

Watch at 1:55, I know it's a snowboarder but if they can do it and make it look good so can skiers. I thought it looked sick as fuck personally.

I wouldn't even watch the video. I'd just look at the thread, then go watch Hunting Yeti webisodes, traveling Circus, or Pollard's self edit for this year.

I'd be shoked if nobody has done a triple flip kangaroo style within the next 5 years. not saying it'll become popular but I just expect that it will be done, and it should be respected when it happens. Just because somebody does a trick doesn't mean that even that person thinks that that's what people should always be doing when they ski

I cant get over that hate for triples. Its all progress. Yes, a hasty, ultra fast, flip off a small jump looks gay. but any trick spun small and fast looks like that. as skiing has progressed so have the jumps. Shit just get bigger. pull out a ski mag from 10 years ago .. you know when you guys were 6. the tricks are as big as the jumps.

as i stated somewhere in this thread, i am not a friend of the idea of throwing triples. but i remember in the fog of my mind reading the exact same thing about doubles like 2/3 or somewhat years ago, if sum1 finds a matching thread about doubles, please post it....

i would say, that we all can hate or not on triples, but someone will bring them to skiing in a steezy way and it will just become normal, just like doubles are today. like it or not, but it will def happen and the first triple cork will drop all our jaws to unexpected depths of the vast ocean

Does anybdy else actually read ski mags? Go read some articles, they'll tell you what's happening. Almost every interview I've read includes something about skiing, filming especially, moving towards creativity, not towards bigger tricks. People are saying that they feel the physical limits are essentially reached, and now it's time to dumb it down into style, more creative features, and more creative filming/editing.

i agree completely

if someone were to land a tripple, it would be amazing, but i doubt it would win any comps and it would def look like shit unless it was slowed down. i love huge slow spins like candie thovex throws doen and amazing style like hornbeck and wallisch and wesson and ahhhhhh.

should it be done.....yes

should it be a maintstay trick...absolutely not

should/will someone do it to prove it can be done...absolutly, like mabey once or twice off a huge BC booter and thrown into the movies, i dont think u will ever see a comp with a jump big enough to warrant it being thrown, let alone with steeze. i think dub combos should be explored, more switch, dub grabs, shit like should be the mainstay of what will be thrown, style is an absolute must.

the whole style thing is maybe a little overrated in this context. everyone can throw steezy 3s or 5s on a 75 ftr. and tons of people can do cork 3s,5s,flats,etc. that look great, so the "pro" status will suffer more and more if people "stop" progressing and turn back to smaller tricks.

and i am reading articles, and when there was an article about jumpopotamus in laax (the "JOI"-kicker of 2004/5 or whenever it was), martin misof who pulled a cleanly grabbed sw 12 (and was the only one if i am right to spin that high back then on this jump) stated that he cant think that people could go for a clean 14 even on a kicker thats as big as phisically possible...

so we've all seen tjs sw 14, and it was sick, recently henrik came up with that sw 16, which was, at least it looked like, thrown on a jump nothing bigger than 65~70 ft. and you cant say that it was as clean as such a high spin can be.

so taking that into account, there is a chance that we are seeing smooth triples that everyone will like on the this or next years supersessions, like JOI, candide or whenever

we will see what the future brings. the thing about ski mags is they they are all about whats going on now, the people that will be in the ski mags 10 years from now arnt being interviewed. they are on this web site, they are dreaming shit up in class, they are throwing down and developing their own style.

he should throw a "pretzel flip" a back flip then some how throw a front flip while still in the air. 99.9% sure thats impossible.

the one travis does is so sick, I think it would look dope on a poppy backcountry kicker, he looked relaxed throwing that thing

Travis Rice's mindset and skill level is a step above. I'll be blown away the day I see a triple flip that even looks like his.

Honestly, i just wanted to post so we had double in-n-out icons.

Remember that french dude who tried to throw a switch triple front and came damn close? IMO that shows triples are possible. How steezy they will be is another matter

The limits are not being reached, triples will happen, they probably won't become as common as doubles are now.

people recentley we have seen the double back flip the past few years, it is a very popular trick right now, just wait like 2 years and you will see a 3ripple go down!

in a year lots of people will be able to triple. thats 3 years from when this thread is made, so yeah, ill bring this thread back in a year.

No offense, but I do not see any logic in this statement. People were saying the same thing a few years ago: "why? single corks can be cool, doubles would be stupid". Not saying I like triples, but you don't make any sense...

Jon was planning on doing a Triple this summer in NZ, he had a 100ft step up built at Treble Cone but the in run wasn't the best. Saw his first hit and he straight aired and overshot, did some 5's after that but unfortunately a snowboarder got hurt really badly shorting the jump and no one hit it after that.

He wanted to attempt a triple 1440...but the weather and winds didn't allow it to happen. This is after Sammy and Bobby already stomped their's but still.

he should keep racing. He has accomplished enough in freeskiing and making it to the olympics would make him the undisputed champion of the skiing world
