Jon Olsson should try a triple.

The guy is doin switch doubles off regular/small park jumps. He could probley hit a triple off like a JOI jump with a little practice.

he could probably do one but he would have to be out of his mind to try off that big an icy jump, i mean if he fucked up bad enough he could die, like if he got 2.5 rotations...i'm sure you could do a double off the joi jump but would you just go for it?

Where else can it go? Bigger spins and bigger flips only makes sense. Harlaut's sw 16? That might catch on, then it's on to 18's. Doubles will move on to triples.

i bet he'll throw one within 2 years, probably in this next year. my prediction is this year is gonna be crazy. i mean henrik has already landed a switch 16. there's gonna be a switch 18 and triple flips this year

I really hope it doesn't go this way. Yeah, the gapers might think it's cool, but I'd rather see the sport focus on smoother and more stylish qualities than do as many flips and spins as you can. Because if it does go that way, we're only going back to where we started in the late 80s and early 90s when people on straight skis would spin as fast as they could. I'd rather see people buttering more, doing smaller stuff, slow spins off bc booters, doing rails more like Will Wesson and Andy Parry. I mean how much good do you think it does our sport to have these people going out and spinning as fast as possible? Maybe we need to start innovating, instead of just adding on to what people are already doing. Yeah great, we can spin super fast but all we're doing is degrading our steeze. Steeze means style and ease, but when I see a video of some guy spinning real fast or some guy double flipping it doesn't look that stylish and it doesn't look like he just threw it down like a walk in the park. If that's the way our sport goes, then let it go that way, but I can tell you I won't be going that way. Watch Pollard's self edit and tell me he didn't make everything look smooth and easy, would you want that or someone throwing their body like a rag doll in the air?

Jon should do whatever the fuck he wants to do and everyone on this site should take a hint. Its called freeskiing for a reason.

N00B! cork3 + cork3 + cork3 = cork 9. Learn sum mafs skillllzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

If anyone took that seriously I'd be worried.

not to put put to much hate, but i think the same about triples that i do about every rotation over 14.
it isnt the the way to push the sport, i swear to god each day that goes by newschool look more and more like aerials

It really doesn't matter what everyone speculates now since no one has thrown a triple (that we know of anyway). Skiing will progress, and as long as what skiers throw look good, they will continue to throw it. If a skier starts doing arials to make stuff bigger with no style, they won't get scored high and it will stop.

worlds full of people who can throw dubs but not a steezy tail 3, so i really dont want triples since size of jumps is somehow limited

I completely agree! I was just saying that bigger is the way it will probably go, at least for competitions. It would be really hard for anyone to judge and compare styles in a competition. Maybe the split between competitions and films will just get wider and wider. Style in the films, hucks in the comps.

Travis Rice did one in That's It That's all and it was steezy as fuck. I'm sure people will be throwing them pretty soon on skis.

i couldnt agree more. i want to start seeing stuff like corked out nose butter 7s with double and triple grabs. talk about steeeze.

I'm glad to see that so many people are agreeing with me on this and see the potential skiing has.

It really needs to end at doubles. i just wanna see jon do a kangaroo 810 to down rail. but fast spins arent really that sick however Henriks 16 was legit

see this is my problem. the hipocrasy. either his 16 was stupid. or fast spins are legit. it cant be legit just cause its henrik

Stylish small spins can only go so far...is everyone saying that in five years they want almost no progression and the same tricks still be thrown. With a big enough jump at JOI triples and huge spins can be made stylish which would truly be progression. Plus triples have been done by snowboarders and aerialists.

Do you really want freestyle skiing (a sport of innovation) to follow snowboarding and aerial skiing? We're supposed to be unique, following snowboarding and aerialists doesn't make us unique. Think about how long aerial skiing ahs been around, snow now if we follow them we're right back where we started. Stylish small spins can go very far, there will be tons of progression. Pep, Andy Mahre, and Chris Benchetler all used to compete in the X-Games, correct? Now look at the movies they're in and the style they have. They never hit anything huge, but something you would find in a public park, not one built privately for photoshots (that is when they're in a park). I never see them hit any huge backcountry gaps or jumps and Pollard hit Chad's with Candide and someone else long before Tanner hit it. They all realized that bigger is not the way to go. But, if you want it to get bigger, then let it, I will not be going in that direction.

your a fucking idiot. were not forceing him to do anything. were just suggesting it. so fuckin shut ur mouth.

Dude everyone has their opinions and yeah I too am kind of sick of threads saying some pro should do this. This thread needs to end we have kind of confirmed it and some people believe it would be cool but others don't it was going good for a little while but now it's out of hand. End this thread.
