Jon Olsson was recently ski race training and claims that someone bet him $10,000 that he couldnt make the 2014 Olympics for ski racing.

He could of been just joking and probably was but thats what my ski racer friend told me when he was racing with her on the weekend.

Would be interesting to see nonetheless...

it is gonna be funny when he wins the olympics and all the racers will be like, what how does some newschooler come in here and win, go jon!
 
Anyone remember when Tanner got in trouble for talking about this two years ago? Something like, "Put a park skier on a race course and they'll be able to do alright; put a racer in a halfpipe and they won't even go." Jon's making it happen. Even though I'm dumbfounded by the thought of Tanner Hall making a legitimate point, Jon is proving him more than right.
 
I don't know if you've been under a rock for the last few weeks or what but the Tanner Hall of 2008 does not deserve snide comments like that. wise up and stop the hate please.
 
Did you here the things he said to Simon after he won the pipe? Some of the most condescending bullshit I've ever heard.

P.S. I will say, though, that in no way, shape or form should Simon have won at X. The boos and snowballs were uncalled for. Tanner's run was flawless with harder tricks and more hits. I do give him props for that.
 
^ True. But he's had an awakening, no doubt. At least he's realized that he no longer belongs in the park - though he does respect the fact that it was that which gained him fame. And Tanner deserved to win gold. His run was flawless, and took a huge step. Going from a whole season of backcountry to training in the summer to winning X is one hell of a feat. Though some may not like him as a person, I respect what he's done for skiing.
 
um for all you little kids that are saying its going to be sweet for a "park" skier to give racers a reality check maybe you should look at Jons background a littl closer, he was once a racer before he switched to park a very good racer at that, he isnt starting racing from scratch. He has a longggggggg way to go before he is anywhere close to the world cup level
 
trust me i know he raced before, and i know he was good at it. I was saying that because if you know racers, or at least the ones i do, they have the biggest ego's and hardly credit park skiing as skiing.
 
Yah but Jon used to race and was one of the best at racing in sweden for a bit. His brother is on the swedish ski team and he made the bet while hanging out with his brother ted ligety and his brotheres friend
