Jon Olsson Does it Again.

been busy working on my race car and with finals the last few weeks. Havent even been posting much on ns recently but I think I will make a comeback.

Have you ever driven a really expensive car with the clutch? I have quite a few times it's really hard to do, And on top of that I drive in a lot of towns and cities.

Hard to do...? Wtf are you talking about? Also not sure what driving in cities and towns has to do with it... Everyone lives in cities and towns.

i think he's talking about how its more of a pain driving with a clutch in a city with traffic as apposed to highway driving where you use the clutch a lot less

Well any manual sucks to drive in traffic.. Whether it's a hyundai or a supercar. And no I have never driven a super car, but what makes it harder than a normal car? I have driven a share of shitty manuals but never a nice car with a shitty manual.

i most definitely have. and probably more often then you have. 4 of the cars i have to drive are a manual. I agree, it is a pain to drive a clutch in traffic. but thats not what you said... you said it was hard to drive a clutch in cities and towns. Which makes no sense.

I find driving super cars with full manual transmissions much easier than driving a regular car with a full manual transmission. And that's from experience, not me just saying "it's much harder, that's all you need to know."

more torque= easier to drive. Less torque=harder to drive

Finally an educated response to my question. Along with the torque stuff, I heard you can't kill a semi cause it has so much torque

He's not the only action sports athlete in the race, apparently Tony Hawk is competing haha.Other entrants include Xzibit, Nero, and Cypress Hill. Sick.

Hey what's going on in this thre-

No I don't it makes sence to me, I get it. you don't, you seem to not understand that super cars with clutches are hard to drive from a stop and go I don't see what's so hard about that.

he's a fucking idiot with zero real world manual transmission experience...i'm sure he's a pro at forza 4 in his moms basement tho

Supercars are finicky beasts that do NOT enjoy stop and go traffic. It is not easy to drive one of these cars in the city and its down right exhausting. Far from the manual transmission in my jeep wrangler that you can literally shift into almost any gear at a huge range of RPM's. Its actually pretty damn easy to shift without using the clutch at all in my jeep so long as you control the RPM's - obviously not good for the synchros so I don't do it often just when I'm dicking around. I'm sure nobigdeal thinks he can do this in his enzo as well

Regardless, Jon is a badass for driving an ultima for gumball

What are you trying to say? that they are hard to drive in general? because thats what you said originally, "Have you ever driven a really expensive car with the clutch? I have quite a few times it's really hard to do, And on top of that I drive in a lot of towns and cities." and thats not true, which is why i said WTF are you talking about??

I agree, driving a super car in stop and go traffic sucks. i was never arguing against that. I was arguing against your statement that driving a expensive car (or "super car") with a clutch in towns and cities is harder than driving a regular car with a clutch. thats not true. which is why I said that in fact, it's easier.

expensive car =/ supercar... and by cities and towns its pretty clear he was implying stop and go, and yes they ARE harder to drive than a clutch in a regular car. maybe youre just some driving prodigy.... or have no goddamn idea what the fuck youre talking about

obviously a expensive car does not equal super car. but from the thread topic, you will see we are talking about super cars.

like i said before. higher torque=easier to drive. hence why it's easier to drive a super car with a clutch.

and once again, i am not arguing that stop and go is a bitch. however, it's not any harder to drive a super car with a clutch in stop and go then it is to drive a regular car with a clutch in stop and go.

How many people will have to quote this and tell you you're wrong to accept the fact that you are wrong and have no idea what you are talking about.

Don't even bring up the discussion of race cams...because surely the cam in his 1989 ford probe that he cruises around town is the same as the cam that is part of a 1,000 hp massive v8*. Making it just as easy to drive...

*I have no idea what power plant is in jon's ultima but I know most ultima's use a smallblock chevy v8

ok, so i was wrong in saying that:

1. a expensive car does not equal a super car.

2. we are discussing super cars in this thread.

3. higher torque= easier to drive

4. Driving a clutch in stop and go is a bitch

5. its not any harder to drive a clutch in a super car then it is in a regular car while in stop and go.

NoNoNoNoNo. Nope. Not even close. Not even on the same street as close. Not even the same area code as close. Fuck it, close just sent out a fucking satellite to get a better look at you you're so far away from it.

See, race cars have RACE CLUTCHES you idiot. Heavy, clunky and instead of being like your mom's car that's designed to give smooth shifts, they're designed to PUT A THOUSAND MOTHERFUCKING HORSEPOWER TO THE GROUND IN THE FASTEST WAY POSSIBLE. Race clutches are a bitch. No wait, more like a cunt. First time in a race car, you're guaranteed to stall it out. Probably the next 5 times after that too. Talk about clueless... Most race clutches have a short throw and NEAR INSTANT initiation, which means you have about an inch and and an 8lb resistance between "oh hey just chilling here at this light" and "OMFG I'M EXPERIENCING 4Gs OF ACCELLERATION RIGHT NOW"

So please... Just go away. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Where is WikkiWikki when we need him!?!??

huck_norris is talking about race cars. I certainly haven't driven a full on race car on the street. I have driven on the street a 911 turbo, ford gt, f430 and v12 vantage. and i have driven a manual miata and a jeep.

this is exactly why street cars don't have full on race clutches. I never said a fucking race car. i'm talking about high performance street cars.
