He's still trying to make it... The Swedish Olympic team hasn't been announced yet. He doesn't have much of a chance, but there is still a chance.

Most countries do it off of World Cup results. If they dont have enough racers/results with WC events it usually goes to time trials or European Cup results. There also usually are point qualifications (US does top 500 in the world which is not as easy as it sounds) on top of these timed results. Each country I believe gets 4(?) skiers per race, and a max of 14 per gender.

I can't speak Swedish but I assume most countries would be similar. At the moment Sweden would have a Shadow Team which is essentially the pool of athletes that make up the athletes that can be selected for the Olympics. I'd assume Jon would be selected in this as he is currently the 4th ranked Swedish male GS skier. (via FIS points)

The quotas for each country (How many athletes can be selected per nation) won't be released until after Jan 20th (End of qualifying period). At this point the National Team and Olympic Team committee will go through and select the athletes for the specific events in the 22 person Alpine team (with a maximum of 14 of each gender). At the moment Sweden has a total of 10 spots (5 of each gender) but it is just the start of the World Cup calendar.

For countries as good as Sweden the team will be picked predominantly by World Cup results for Alpine. This is how the quotas work http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpine_skiing_at_the_2014_Winter_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Qualification

Its not looking too promising for him. He came in 31st in the European Cup this weekend. While that would be great for most skiers, for an aspiring Olympian it is not.
