Ok you kind of contradict yourself here. First of all, straight airs don't win comps because there are more difficult tricks, similar to the fact that switch 1080's don't win all comps anymore because there are more difficult tricks such as the kangaroo flip. If every pro could do a kangaroo flip then that trick would be comparable with a straight air in your thought process. So, until the rest of the field catches up with Jon, there isn't much pressure to look beyond kangaroo flip, even though he is doing so.
And then stay true? Staying "true" at the x-games would be sick, but you most likely would not podium. However, if you throw kangaroo flips and do well at events like the x-games, then you can stay "true" in the backcountry and filming later in the season.
And then the comparison to gargnier seems irrelevant to me because hasn't he been snagging podiums with octograbs for at least a season?
I see no reason for Jon to take the Kangaroo flip out of his run lineup.
