Jon, JOSS, Bobby B

posts like these make me so angry. first bobby is good at rails, might not be the best, but he is still solid. and so when does urban being 25% of the contest mean that rails are more important than the jumps, which are you could say make up 75%. and team ns doesnt need to represent in ns in that lots of us slay rails, team ns was meant to be a team that allowed us to put people in joss who didnt get in in the first place. bobby deserves to be at joss more than anyone based on his jump skills and comp results, and so the responsibility lies on us to put him there. we dont need someone who we think respresents us, rather someone who should be at joss.
god this is frustrating.
also, people saying that bobby shoulda been on team usa and not ns so others could be put on the team, well now that bobby isnt on team usa we should make damn sure he is on team ns.
so vote bobby for joss. we wont regret it
 
WRONG. im going to go ahead and say that 'Filming overall" is out of the athletes hands for the most part. so for the athletes role, (style tricks, tech tricks, urban) urban makes up 16/48 of the ATHLETES total, so 1/3. so yeah urban/rail ability should play a huge role in the voting process despite what chug and others are saying.

sure urban is an element. BUT

a) its joss, rails are never the focus, sure there some points for it, but its joss, its all about huge gnar jumps

b)urban is more than just rails, im sure other random urban features will apply as well (wall rides, bomb drops etc)

c) anyone that doesnt think bobby is good at rails is mental. sure he may not afterbang, but that doesnt make you not good at rails, he can hold his own with 99% of joss competitors.
 
i never said RAILS are the end all be all of JOSS.
for my rebuttal
a. its joss, and urban has been made a priority this year. jon switched up the event this year if you didnt notice and that is obviously represented in his point distribution.
b. of course urban is more than rails. andreas and pk had my favorite feature last year with a wall ride. so obviously there will be more than rails.
c. bobby is an average rail skier. he does well in slop comps because really tech rail tricks arent really needed, just something that will look ok and ensure you wont crash. there are tons of no name kids on ns that have equivalent or better rail game than bobby.

Bobbys pulled out of JOSS now, something to do with "giving somebody else the opportunity" but realistically with all the hate directed at him from NS not surprised he decided not to be part of the team.
 
yeah i know that riders can contribute with 48 points but theres is also the 32 points more that the filmers contribute with and thats my point. And as you say urban points from ridrs view is 16/48 but in total its 16/80 (sorry for my last post which said that the clip can be spliltted up in 96 points, its 80 i misscalculated).
 
from what i remember, urban was weighted the same last year as it is said to be this year...not 100% on that but i dont think thats one thing jon changed.
but what im trying to get at is that if the winners of the video contest are looking for an experience of a lifetime, i sure hope they dont focus on rails when they get there. i dont think people are understanding the magnitude of jon's perfect jumps.
either way, doesnt really matter, i voted and i hope the guys i want to go do.

what a retarded argument. bobby didn't make it to the top because he got help. he made it because he's absurdly talented and works hard. now he's at the top and idiots like you have prevented him from going to the best comp of the year. joss is the best event of the year. the best athletes should be there. this isn't some half-assed "lets level the playing field so everyone can succeed" bullshit. bobby's what, 17? 18? people voting him down because he's so fucking good is just jealousy. and it's pathetic. i'm sorry bobby you've fallen victim to everything that is wrong with ns.

its easy to side with goliath, especially when he got a bit of a red carpet for JOSS (minus the fact Jon totally f'd up not picking him in the first place), so why stack the deck even more? thats the ethical dilemma that played out, unfortunately, to what we have seen happen. i have never said anything bad about bobby, but instead used my vote for my own reasons. although my opinion has caused a bit of a stir i still only had 1 vote.
 
Because JOSS is not about up and comers getting a shot. That is what Super-Unkown, Simon Dumont Comp, JOI, and other contests are for. JOSS should have the best skiers doing the best tricks on the best jumps.
 
this is JOSS, not superunkown. at no point was it said that team NS was supposed to be underground people. (and it wont be, considering walker, lj, and vanular, who are all giant names, bigger than bobby i would say even)

Maybe you need to read all my posts again. I never said it was a competition for underdogs. I said that Jon voicing his opinion about his own event actually had a negative effect on me (and obviously others) and because of that I, personally, didnt consider Bobby a candidate anymore. And that:

To be completely blunt about it, Bobby was just the commodity that happened to be the topic of this aspect of JOSS. So who is to say we were hating on Bobby (some have, but I NEVER hated on Bobby) when some of us were just 'boycotting' Jon.
 
then boycott Jon in a way that effects only Jon. dont leave Bobby in the wake of your tirade against him.
 
Why isn't jon allowed to express his opinion, without ns flipping? His vote is just as powerful. He also said he wanted lj and vanular to go, so I guess you guys don't want them to go? Jon didn't make the contest unfair, he just expressed his opinion, just like all of you are doing now
