So I like most of you have been keeping up with the Jon Olsson video blog and man I just am not into Jon like i used to be. Tight pants? gay skis? ski racing? hitting rails on a powder day? I mean the guy is incredibly talented but after watchin the empire edits there are some new double flippers in town. Goddammit Jon you turned skiing into ariels with baggie clothes and poles.
 
i can see where your coming from, but still thats really lame just to hate on him now. I dont know, could JON threads be the future of teh 100s of TANNER threads we had?

I don't know man I just don't like his style and how he's turned skiing into a total flip fest but thats just my opinion. I mean ya he's progressed the sport to some extent but im way more into the simon dumont and colby west kind of skiers.

your just seeing the side of jon (and in a sense every pro rider out there) that you would never see before. completely uncut, the life of a ski superstar. hes doing what he wants and doesn't need your hate. the videoblog will just get better after competition season. quit bitching you homo. jon rules you suck, end of thread.
 
in case your all forgetting jon didnt start double flips mike wilson was doin them before anyone jon just got all the credit so dont blame him

i agree with bryce, although i dont like him as much as i used to, hes still fucking rad a a really really good skier, and his dub flips are sick

hating on jon for starting double flips is really stupid. its not like he forced anyone else to do them, and his are by far the best looking.
 
Dude, think about it - where else could Jon go? He's mastered slow spins with dope grabs (see every segment he's ever done...) but couldn't ever really lock up a place better than 3rd in the comps. And I know that NS loves to flame on comps, but Jon is a master at them, double flips fit into that aspect of the sport just fine. If you want style, watch the Idea crew or go hang out with T Heed, guys who do comps are going to be progressing the difficulty level of tricks.

and Jon is flat out one of the best to touch ski to snow. period.
 
he needs to get another pinks suit!!!! out of the competitor skiers he is one of my favorites, way cooler than simon. but im not a big fan of competition skiers in general.
 
Yeah? Colby's throwing dub flips, have you seen Simon's new flip? That double-front 3/5 thing? That's more aerial like than any of Jon's stuff.
 
Just wait until the DUMONT gets his blog running, then compare it to Jon's... Jon is amazing, has been for a long time and will be for a long time, sorry you don't feel him but from your posts your opinion not only means nothing, but is foolish as well.
 
jon is a great skier he is always smiling and having FUN. isn't that the most important matter about skiing we love
 
hes hitting rails on pow days because hes training for x-games obviously.

He wears baggy pants apart from when hes racing.

and his double flips look amazing, and not like arials.

jon's the man end of story. he works so hard for himself, more so thanb any other skier evidently. he also works so hard for our sport, more so than any other skier. you and i owe that man for the effort he makes to promote freeskiing. k?

 
Do any of you understand that Jon could ski powder at the drop of a hat? Do you think he gives a shit about some shitty ass keystone powder when he can get some insane powder elsewhere? The guy is WORKING, he has a job, and thats skiing. So he has to train for the X Games, and he has to train for ski racing. Would you yell at your dad for doing his job and feeding your family instead of skiing on a pow day? Too many of you see being a professional skier as this easy thing where you just smoke pot and shred all day. Its an actual job, and Jon is doing his.
 
Agreed. It is a powder day but he has to train. If he wanted to do powder he could fly anywhere he wanted and get the sickest powder around.

Jon is hitting rails which i think is super nice that he is working so hard for them. He wants to bring his skiing to max and his rail skills are far behind his jump skills. So you can hate him for training on rails, but id love seeing jon taking home the gold at x, espec after the drama he had last year.

And dude!! Since when is a super hot sweedish model on your skis gay??? So you think its super heterosexual to have a big ass 9 on your skis??
 
So rather than liking the king of style when it comes to double flips, you're more into the people just learning them and making them look not as good? Who cares if he started double flips. Yell at everyone else for trying to imitate them. Jon was doing his own thing, and did something to our sport that most people have never done.
 
First off I'm gonna say that Jon's flat 5 is the most solid and steeziest in the game.

Now, the reason he does double flips is because if he didn't do them, he wouldn't be winning competitions anymore. If you are a winner, the only way to stay satisfied is to keep winning, so you gotta find new ways to win. That's not just Jon, there are plenty others who have the same kind of personality, like the others that are trying to get doubles as well because they want to win and stay in this game.

That doesn't mean people don't like doing doubles, like in the x games training thing on the front page, you can see colby's interview where he says he loves doing doubles, how they are so fun because its just one trick after another in the air.

I'll address these issues separately:

1) Jon's outerwear is sick. While doing the interview on the lift he was telling me how comfortable and warm it is. I'm sure that's what I'll ALWAYS look for in clothing when it comes to skiing.

2) His pro model next year has two beautiful brunette chicks on them. If those are gay then I think you need your eyes checked.

3) Double flips are what they are. If anything it's nice to see a little change away from the switch 10,12,14. Judging Big Air will become more difficult as newer doubles come out. Also Jon is helping the "new double flippers." He was giving advice to Colby while Colby was trying to learn them.

4) He wasn't over hucking anything. If I recall correctly he wasn't spinning anything over a 7 on the first two hits, they were insanely stylie, and the dude just never lets go of his grab.

5) hitting rails on a powder is what it is. I'm not going to hit rails on a powder day but if that's what he felt like doing then good for him. I would hate to have people telling me how to ski.

Don't hate on Jon. It's cool not to like someone's style or attitude but from my experience meeting him he's a classy guy with a good sense of humor and knowledge of where skiing is headed.

I dont think anyone would want someone else telling them how to ski. LIke when you tell a racer he or she should be hitting tables and jibbing instead of working towards their racing goals, or vice versa.

Untill you can shred as well as ANY pro, let alone the guy who runs every show around... maybe keep your criticisms to a constructive nature. Or say, hey, Jon, dont stop what youre doing!!!!
 
Ha ha I knew this would ruffle a few feathers. Ya i know the guy is a great skier the guys is a true pioneer in our sport enough said. But i just don't absolutely jaw dropped watching him ski anymore. I mean ya his flips are sick but I don't feel he is as talented as a say a Simon Dumont and I don't expect him to dominate big airs anymore after seeing what others are coming out with this year. I mean after watching the Empire edits of Simon Colby and Jossi i was in absolute disbelief!!!!!! I mean the shit those guys were throwing was just unbelievable i mean double front misty 7 common guys??? And Colby just keeps getting sicker and sicker and Jossi is ridiculous. In my opinion Jon is about to get over thrown in the flip game.
 
salomon kid what are you talking about how is simon's gymnastics nicer that jon double flips that look like he's not even trying. yes jossi and colby are sick but there doubles aren't yet on the same level as jon. As of now jon has the best doubles
