Jon Brogan in Turbo

So, now that a lot of folks have seen the flick at IF3, how did NS' controversial superunknown do in his big league debut? was he a cutting edge rider on the imminent cusp of stardom, or an oversteezed letdown getting sucked under by the wave of his own hype?

or somewhere in between? let me know.

doubt he was as good as the pervious unknowns skillwise..lets face it berman even said he chose him based on his style..but i'm sure what he does have looks really good.

There's no doubt that Brog is a good skier.. but honestly, I completely forgot about that superunknown stuff until you just mentioned it. How do you just forget that someone's in a movie? Because apparently I did. Turbo would be a really hard movie to come into. There were a lot of "are-you-serious" shots that stood out, that made me ignorant to the fact that Brog was making his debut. Between Will's antics and Ahmet and Corey having injuries, I feel like Brogan became the Where's Waldo segment. I'm not dissing this kid at all-- he's a good skier and a funny guy, but Turbo was just sooo sick, that he got overshadowed.

Brogan has 2 special feature edits but does not have a segment in Turbo. He only shot with Berman very late in the year and got hurt at one of shoots just as it started. Josh posted in a thread about this back in May or June. One special feature is with Hornbeck and was edited by Mike Clarke and the other one was edited by his friend Tyler. The footage that he has, in the very short period of time that he shot, is really good. The extras in Turbo are the best I have ever seen and are worth the price of the movie alone.

ya i forgot he was in it cause i didnt see him and it was so banger i =m sure hes in some of the bonus features

honestly me and most of the upper balcony stayed kinda drunk throughout all the movie screenings.. so its hard to remember details but , he did have a segment, all bc i believe , i remember some massive blunts and switch landings from him . i was stoked on it but i hope im not making up that it was in Turbo

brogan had one shot in turbo (of course more in the extras) it was a sw 270 onto a gap to flat down box

brogan was lacking in segments but ian cosco wasnt, he had a banger segment especially while wearing a gretzsky jersey

i feel like ive been wayyy too much of a hater in the past couple days but honestly, one shot?

i mean, i straight laughed in the theater when he had ONE shot.

brogan, your steeze, but, one shot!? makes superuknown seem silly, even though it is now

welll, Mike Clarke had only 1 or 2 shots in Long Story, and I wouldn't say that stunted his ski career, or the superunknown contest for that matter.

well the thing about him is he isnt a crazy insane skiier. He doesnt pull of the hardest tricks or any of that but, the way he rides is amazing. His style is unbeatable and im glad people are starting to choose based on style so we dont have to have these switch 10 comps again

Get over it man. Your boy did not win the contest and he would not have gotten any shots in the movie.

Do you know how many athletes go to the late season park shoots with Level 1? Do you know how much footy Level 1 has each year? There is a TON of footy that does not make the movie, and when guys like Wallisch, Rainville, Delorme, Hornbeck, Dorey, Clarke, Riddle, Duncan, Walker, Hathaway, etc are there, it is really tough to get a shot that is included in a 3 minute park shoot segment. He only had a few chances to shoot at the end of the year if I am not mistaken.

I am glad that you laughed when he had one shot. Clearly, you had zero shots so maybe 1 shot doesn't seem so lame.

But then again, maybe you are just an insecure kid who is more worried about others instead of himself. Maybe you are really unhappy with who you are and feel the need to hate like this. Maybe you are jealous and can't accept the fact that people like watching Jon ski. Whatever it is, hopefully you will grow out of it one day though.

martini is def better then brogan, but brogan found a way to be more unique witch his style and all the contreverse that he brings

and word to the martini brothers, they totaly slayed in road to nowhere

who cares he won it

props for him, i wanna win it soo bad and so do many people here on ns

so if he makes it all to him cause he did somethin that the rest of us couldn't

dude, shut the fuck up. I agree with scofield. Maybe you havent been on NS that long, but people tend to tell it like they see it on here. Brogan really isnt bringing anything new to the ski scene. People have been landing with steeze (including me) for many years. Berman seems to just pick whatever guy that NS is circle jerking for SuperUnknown more than likely for marketing reasons.

I have not seen Turbo or Road to Nowhere, but the stept guys seem to work really hard and its probably annoying as fuck to have all your hard work go unnoticed because of other crews/people that are way overhyped by NS.

im sorry but ccclllllaaaaaaaiiimmmmm hahaha. and its not jsut about brogans landing....watch that nigga on the inrun, his crazy carved ass take-off, perfect rotations and grabs, and just his insane fluidity. people think he won because he lands like he just popped 20 bloods, but truth is, he s just really sick at skiing, and his style does stand out, not just his landings. his shots in turbo are dope. youve never seen a switch 450 like the one he did. why do you think tanner is so stoked on wallisch, harlaut, and brogan? cuz they are bringing something. i would say if the (arguably) best skier in the world is saying there bringing something, i agree. he sees everything.

you kids have NO IDEA. its unbelieveable. hate all you want but youlll see. brogan is EXACTLY what superunknown needed, and bermans decision exemplifies why level 1 is such a dope film company. finally style prevailed over crazy...which i was pretty damn stoked to see happen.

hate all you want on brogans ability, it just shows your ignorance to how good of a skier he is. i would much rather watch brogan ski than any of the superunknown entrys...you know why? because hes bringin something fresh to the industry. kid just has a super fluid style that can be matched by few. just SO damn smooth...youll see. kid oooozes.

its just lame so much unnecessary hate goes on, be stoked for the kid...dont be assholes. damn. and as cosco said...when tanner hall gives you ups on bringin it...you gotta be doing something right.

i cant believe people are tryin to hate on brogs. its like, wtf mate?
TRY to ski like him, then post nonsense on nonsenschoolers.

Yeah mabey only 1 shot, but probably the most gangster 1 shot ever.... open jack switch cork 450 continueing 270 stomped. Thats valid as fuck

I tolfd it before when he won superunknown.

He's really good and got some crazy style but I dont think he's got the bag of trick and a style so unique and crazy to make shots worthy when your filming with all the steeziest riders that have a style similar to his. I mean delorme fuckign switch 270 tail tapped the same rail adn some other crazy shit went down in there too.

Anyway, I'm not dissng the guy I know how hard it is to film with the best guyz in the world. I've been there before and that's why I hope he's gonna push his skiing in a way where all his stuff are shots no matter what the others are doing.

Chill the fuck out, hes not hating on brogz, just stating his opinion, I can tell your right now hes not calling him out at all.

And... Brogan kills it

And... so does Ced

i have to agree, in a less harsh tone of voice. i dono if he means to but he does talk down in a round a bout sort of way then brings it back to nice at the end
