Jon Brogan Appreciation Thread

you are assuming sooo much in this statement that its a little ridiculous.

you have basically said that it is not important for talented skiers to continue to progress and push the sport. and you comparing brogan to us? makes no sense what so ever. kids are out there everyday working their ass off to get their cork 9 down, and your going to claim that it doesnt bother you when you see a pro skier with very little or no desire to learn something new?... cmon

I'm so grossed out by your statements that I barely want to respond, because it's very obvious that you and I have a totally divergent idea of skiing.
So, I'll ask you....why does Jon Brogan, as you seem to believe (because I didn't mention any one other than him) have ANY obligation to you, me, or anyone to "push the sport"? YOU'RE assuming. So, yeah...I am saiyng it's NOT important for any skier to continue to progress anything...especially if that's not what gets them out of bed in the morning. Why do you think it's important that an individual push the sport? So that x-games big air is more impressive to the laymen? Does the progression of skiing at the pro level have ANY effect on your day to day enjoyment of being in boots and bindings?
How could you misunderstand me so profoundly?
Brogan is like us in that he is not a "PRO" in any real sense of the word. He gets gear? He has a few shots in a few movies? He has a tiny bit of "internet celebrity" because of a few short edits? So what? You think he's making a living on the strength of skiing? You think skiing pays his bills? Get a fucking clue. He doesn't owe "skiing" a motherfucking thing, he does it because he enjoys it. You don't think he worked to get where he is, to the level of ability he's at? Cause I'll tell you that he's VASTLY better than most anyone who aligns themselves with our little niche of skiing.
And, no...it doesn't bother me that he "doesn't have a desire to learn something new".... another stupid assumption on your part. How bout this: Maybe he's afraid of inverts? Then what? (not saying he is, pure speculation) The better question is why does it bother you so much? I think the answer is fairly obvious....jealousy/hate brought on by wishing you could switch spots with him. Go watch football or something man.
You're talking as if that by Brogan having a tiny bit of notoriety, that he's somehow taking a spot that some other "sport pushing, progressive pro" could have. That's not the case.
I can't remember the last time I said this, but simply, your opinion is flat out fucking wrong.

i was actually in bolder met a few kid in a few of his classes, they didn't say kind thing about him. i wouldn't know because ive never met him in person but thats just what they said

Half of the members that posted on here are illiterate, it says "Jon Brogan Appreciation Thread". If you don't appreciate Jon Brogan, then don't post in this thread. It's that simple.

People claim that he isn't the best skier in the game; sure perhaps he isn't the most talented skier. The kid is having fun skiing and that's what counts, I don't understand why people have a problem with that. I think Jon Brogan's style is super smooth and I appreciate that he maintains it, as he does't listen to the numbskulls that are overpopulating NS.

I would like to agree with many of you and hate on so many more, but instead I would like to say, Brogan, I've been in love with you since day 1.

however just fyi orange name = industry member/representative ≠ pro

thus being a sponsored skier would make you a representative for whatever brand/company spancerizes you
 
Adam i was creepin on your thread and started watchin the first edit. Chillen had just stared on the shuffle i was playing not 5 seconds before i started the video. weirdest thing ever.
 
hummm well i dont know brogan but hes a great skier and his style is so sick! SO SMOOTH ON RAILS!!!!!!!!

Brogan's the illest!! His style is straight up really nice. He's always got the smoothest shots. If you're not stoked on his riding, check your pulse.
 
tricks aint so techy, but style out the wazoo. nobody comes close to the steeze dripping out of every trick
 
Haven't seen any of Brogan this year, and with the loss of B-Dog and Henrik for Level 1, I for one would like to see more Brogan this year.
 
pro or not brogan is like my inspiration, he isnt even a pro and he gest some pretty dope shots in some big movies!

Brogan started the afterbang/effortless/pencil style of skiing that everyone tries to imitate today..go watch old Tanner Hall edits and compare that to current Henrik or whoever edits and you'll see a huge difference in style..Brogan started that change.

And 'freeskiing' isn't like a fucking person or whatever, he doesn't owe it to 'freeskiing' to learn dubs or whatever or progress the sport, he's just doing what he wants and having fun.

Also he brought back 50-50s especially one footed ones which now people are doing all over the place.

And he has a few dope shots in Eye Trip and Turbo, and Superunknown is about finding an unknown skier and bringin him out to film...its not about transforming them into a superstar

I'd be down to see another Jon Brogan edit though
 
the thing that bothers me about brogan is that he is on jiberish's pro team and hasnt learned anything for years.
