JOI: 2 days of sessioning is done

Todd Richards is Todd Richards, have you seen what the SKIERS are doing?

The grabs, the spins? no? so sit tight and wait.

the rider list is on jonolssoninvitational.com as far as i know the list is something like this:

USA Sammy C Tom Wallisch Dumont Spriggs?

Scandinavia Jon Jacob Wester Oscar Scherlin Grete

CA TJ Josh Bibby Possibly Vanular

other than that i know Jossi Wells will be there and PK Hunder, Sarah Burke, um..ya there are more

Im only going to start being impressed with double flips when the spins drop to 900 or below. I think a double cork 5 or 7 would look really sick

detective isn't making a direct comparison to the exact style of aerials. He's comparing the fact that they are both un grabbed, and not grabbed so the rotation is possible.

And in response to your remark about only seeing this trick on huge jumps: you don't see aerialists hucking off of mogul jumps, or throwing in the mini park.

Let's all take a reality check here, and try to fathom the point of not grabbing to enable yourself to spin faster. You are like every little racer in the park who doesn't give a shit if you can do a smooth cab 7, he just wants to see a backflip.

wow your about 30% correct! thats an F

go check it out on the site, everybody is listed

Doubles list:

Jossi, Jon, Jacob, Sammy, Simon, Oscar, Jim Johansson, Kalle Leinnonen, Andreas.......i think thats all? wait no at least 1-2 other people but i can't remember who

Simon has front to mist 5 thats sick! Wait till you see thing, doubles with double grabs, super slow rotations not hucked so stylie

monsieur favre has a point.

this isn't a slam on olsson & co - they are definitely styling their shit out and aesthetically its far from aerials, but there's still an angle there. these tricks need a very specific setting to be executed, i.e. a JOI style perfect jump.

that is more in line with the aerials vibe than freeride or freestyle culture. as favre says, the leading snowboarding pros are progressing huge shit off barely shaped BC hits, whereas skiing seems to be moving towards monster park hits.

maybe its more to do with comps in general...

skiing will eventually move to the barely shaped bc hits stage... snowboarding went through a 'super park' stage too. pollard pep and andy are already moving.

dub cork 12 holy are these guys humans.

hope they dont get carried away with the booze during apres

To everyone who is pissed about the lack of grabs, grow up. First one must be comfortable with a trick in order to move onto the next step of grabing. Especialy, at the greatness of the jump their hitting, the is no space for mistakes. a crash on the jump could easialy leave you paralyzed. Next year you will see more grabs and a catching up of the style to the technical rotations. Patience bitches.

the video of that switch double 14 looked sloppy, but whatever, shit's crazy - no denying that.

My point is that people like Crichton wouldn't ever do a trick like that in competition without having it perfected.

P.S. I don't know if that trick in the vid is his "sickest" one or not but in my opinion the "I'm taking a poopy in my pants grab" does not count as "style". But then again, I know thats what all you kids are all about. Poopy pantsing and grabbing your feet like you dropped the soap.

P.S.S I went through the rest of the vids in your photobucket album and the one you titled as a 14 is so fucking hard to tell if that actually is a 14 or not. Which is EXACTLY what I think is gay. I'm guessing it likely actually is a 14, but the fact that I even have the slightest difficulty in figuring out what the fuck he just spun is the issue.

In aerials, unless you know the trick someone is doing it's usually difficult to tell what they are doing. For example, full, rudy half is a triple flip with a 3 on the first flip a 9 on the second and a 180 on the last one. But if you saw one you'd never know that unless you knew it.

P.S. I just realized that this was practice and not the comp and therefore I am a piece of trash and I take back everything I have said until it is cleaned up for the comp.

the jump i need to see at the joi? mikael-style carve 5 blunt. he was on to something, oh, in the days of strike 3.

jossi's taking off switch, and going corked TWICE...trust me, no one is showing that up...the sw dub 10 is more impressive then a 16

yo buddy....double cork 5 = impossible since double cork = 720 degrees of rotation....if you want a dub cork seven try a dub back or dub front....

anyone bitching about them not lookin or clean, your an idiot. If you can learn a trick like a double flip in an hour and make it look good, then go ahead and talk as much shit as you want, but come on! They are just trying the tricks for the fist time, and some people are already getting clean double grabs, sammy got the SICKEST flat 7 japan to truck, Jon has a bunch of diff grabs in his double, and they are SO SLOW and he doesn't move a muscle, sooooo sick

they are already moving out of the huck stage to slow stylie double grabbed tricks

and no you don't need a perfect jump or a JOI jump at all to do doubles, they have been thrown off ome way smaller, less kicky jumps, this thing is just perfect to learn on

And whoever said a bad crash is the end on this thing, WRONG....its one of the safest jumps ever built, minus last years JOI which was more of a step up. Sammy landed on his head/side on a double and was fine, tons of crashes from yesterday and day before and everyone walked away fine with the exception of fabio who dislocated his shoulder on a crash that wasn't bad

!

the funny thing is, even though i bet mickael has barely been skiing lately, he could go to this event and do stuff that would make me more stoked than every single trick listed, and i hope laurent is in the comp still because he is one of the only pros up there with mickael's style. also why not perfect tricks before moving on? you don't have to one up a spin all of the time, you know, you can throw in a carve before the trick, a carve on the landing, also do a fucking different grab other than a MUTE OR JAPAN...ohhhh skiing...
