First off, that video proves absolutely nothing about a draft.
Secondly, I agree that military service should be mandatory for all citizens. I don't think it should be active duty and I don't think it should be for 2 years, but a year of training and reserve duty before the age of 25 would be a good thing. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be in a militant country. Switzerland requires military service, and when was the last time they deployed troops in combat, like the 1300s? And military service does not necessarily mean it has to be all combat training either. In Canada we do not have a National Guard and in the case of natural emergencies the army is called into help. If, god forbid, Vancouver is ever hit with the big quake they are always talking about, we're fucked. We don't have an army base close enough to us to respond to an emergency and absolutely meager reserve troops to step up.
Maybe 1 year service would reduce the number of fatasses in our society and build some respect for authority in our young people. Maybe not, but I still only see positives in basic combat and disaster response training.
