John Mayer

srv blended hendrix/page/gibbons rock style with more traditional texas blues ie johnny copeland, t-bone walker, johnny winter

he was a cross over in the same way that mayer is. i believe that ever generation will have at least one "cross over" that will introduce people to the blues.

however mayer is much less authentic than SRV. if you know anything about the blues you will admit that

Yeah I feel that.

In the vein of blues I can definitely admit that. But yeah as you mentioned he's a very extended bridge from the world of acoustic pop songs to the world of the blues. Which I think is super rad.

His music is fucking god awful and makes me want to kill helpless animals. That said he's a fucking beast on guitar. I just wish he didn't play such shitty music.

^.

also i've met tosin and spoken theory/composition with him. unimpressed. also he played "blues" at this one demo in rockville and it was GOD awful. no time or swing

minette is in the same stuff. creative and "technical" as far as shred goes, but in a wider perspective there isn't much depth to the music.
