Gold-medal winner Johnny Moseley wraps up a two-week AMEX training internship with the Kellogg Group

At age 29, Johnny Moseley, who took home a skiiing gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics, is seeking a new mountain to conquer -- Wall Street. He’s now wrapping up a two-week-long stint at a Kellogg Group specialists' trading firm working on the floor of the AMEX.

"I’m done with skiing," Moseley says. "Just not curious about it anymore. Wall Street is fascinating, I can see a career, maybe trading. You definitely get the bug being down on the floor." Yes, it’s summer at the AMEX but Moseley took advantage of the pace and the attention he was getting and says he’ll always value the learning experience. Kellogg founder Kirk Kellogg met Moseley while on a skiing vacation earlier this year and arranged for the internship.

"He’s a smart guy who is getting a great macro view," Kellogg says. "He’ll go places." Moseley says he’s studied options and ETF trading, which will help in whatever path he chooses. Ringing the opening bell Thursday morning, the Olympian from Marin County, California, was all smiles as he yelled out to the floor, "Thanks for showing me a lot of love." Of course the former host of MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge had his balls busted, too. "Some guys gave me shit about my hair," the spiky coiffed mogul master remarked. "But that’s all part of the experience."

Honestly, skiing shunned him. Do you know how much ass he would have to kiss to get some respect in this sport? Dude's gonna make a shit-ton of money now. I'm thinking that will ease the pain of being shut out by skiing. Not everyone is a "core" skier. And he is one of those people. Oh well. Maybe now that he's not a skier people will just move on. Probably not though.

see the tv show example makes sense. but he didnt leave skiing in the dust to trade stocks. when was the last tie he did anythign skiing. and being a proskier isnt going to get you a job on wallstreet. thats how he met the guy.

So since I ski now, and someday I'll get a real job. I am a sellout aswell? I don't see the logic. The mother fucker get a gold in the olympics, he's 29 years old. What the hell do you want him to do? He can't ski like he could anymore, his body probably can' t take the abuse. So what should he do now? What the fuck is wrong with selling out? Everyone needs money. Some people just have better, or easier, ways of getting it. It's my dream to be able to sell out. Think about it. If you can turn 15 minutes of fame into a lifetime of financial stability, that's an accomplishment. As a skier, I think what he said about skiing was bad, but it's his life. Half the kids on NS would do the same if it meant they would be rich. Screw you guys. Being a sell out would rule.

Also, let's not forget what Johnny Mosely did for new school skiing. The '98 olympics came around right at the beginning of the new school movement. Salomon had come out with the first 1080s in '97, the same year JF won the X-Games with his switch 720. It was very possible, however, that new school skiing would flame out (e.g. skiboarding.) Mosely brought new school, infantile as it was, to the public. So he was never that talented of a jibber. So he couldn't repeat in the '02 olympics. Big deal. He opened the door to new school for the whole country. Without him, today's terrain parks could very well be dominated by boarders.

this is bull shit the way you guys hate on mosley. first off, what he did for skiing was a GOOD thing. also, he is a really sick skier big mountain and bumps, and jumps and what ever. the dude will ski circles around a lot of people. also he is a fuckin cool dude, and is in no way big headed. he is super gratefull, and understands his role as who he is.

and the reason that he is doin this shit is cause he is in business school at berkley, trying to make more of himself than that skier who did the grab in that bump run a few years back. he is getting a real life. you can't be a pro skier your whole life. that is why it is good to go to university.

Moseley is OLD in regards to being a professional athlete. Good for him for going out and getting a genuine career. Nobody is a sellout for going and doing new things. Sure his stint on MTV was a little odd, but Moseley gave skiing a following during the days when newschool skiing was about as popular aids is (wow..that comment was horrible haha). So he's going to be something besides skiing, big deal. When any professional athlete retires, he has to have a fallback job, and since skiers dont get anywhere NEAR the money of all other professional athletes, they should have a plan on what their going to once they get to a point where they cant perform as well (not saying Moseley is washed up, I have no clue on that)

Mosely is awesome. Like everyones said...he already won gold in the olympics. Where else do you want him to go? I mean if you have a gold medal around your neck I think you should be able to do a different job if you want. Hes doing what he wants. Thats why you ski isnt it?

Yeah dudes, give poor johny a break. I can assure you that when i'm 29 years old i will not be as much of a "core" skier as I am now. I'll still be skiing trust me, but I definitely won't be doing all of the shit i do now. Johny is smart enough to realize that he can't make a great life for himself skiing. Not to mention that he won't be able to ski at a competitive level much longer. (when you're 30 your body doesn't quite heal like it does when you were 20 either). And I don't think his statements are to "leave skiing in the dust", I think Johny just wants the whole world to take him seriously when he says he's turning over a new leaf on wallstreet. If i were him, I'd be using my fame too. Some of you act like he should crawl under a rock for 10 years until everyone forgets about him and then start all over.

I was personally "done with skiing" three years when i stopped competing

last year the BEST season i have ver enjoyed...paid for a pass, hAD to ski weekends..pow dAYS MID WEEK OF COURSE ... but the fact that i did not have to worry about injury or money for food was awsome....

being "done skiing" ment for me going from 140 days a year to 60...

so its all relative...but atleast now i am not forced to enter crappy comps with shitty judges or icy conditions...those days i am home chilling in the hot tub staring at the lake
