If you can hustle, good with people and think quick on your feet, you can do well in restaurants. I started when I was 14 washing dishes at a pizzeria I could bike to making minimum wage, then by 17 I was able to drive to the owner's resturant in another area to buss tables because I straight worked my ass for him.
After that, I had the opportunity to work for a catering company as a server, eventually learned to bartend and cook a little bit there as well. Met a lot of people I today call my friends and had a great time working along the way, as intense as catering was.
Today, I'm 19 and waiting tables at a classy-casual place that a professional hockey player owns making more money than I ever thought I would (I could meet a goal of 500/week as a full time student if I NEEDED to), pulling in hundo + tips a few times a night on the right nights. It's easy to make some good cash in a resturant, but it takes a while to get good at it. Took me 4 years.
In the end, working your hardest at whatever you by putting your heart into whatever you're up to will do you the best service for yourself. Learn this at a young age and it will take you places, good luck landing your first job!
