JMO Irvine?

Just wondering what happened to this guy? I remember some years back he won Dew Tour rookie of the year and his style always stood out to me amongst most slope comp skiers. In his Dew Tour run here he has the SLOWEST switch dub 9 in the flattest light.

I've also been curious, he was hugely talented when he was young, like "this kid might be the next big thing" talented. I haven't seen anything from him since CASG Sundays and Westward a few years ago.

I was thinking about this the other day.

He was so sick not too long ago.

Also, what ever happened to Cody Ling?

I heard Jmo sustained a head injury and had to stay in a dark room for a couple months, like pretty major. That might not be the exact details but something along the lines. He was sooooooo so talented and stylish, favorite skier for a while in the comp scene.

The longevity of park skiing is weird, if you do it consciously...we should be able to ski park atleast mellow until were older. Its not like it takes that much energy compared to other physical activites.

Action sports just came about in the last 30 or so years (around that?) so its interesting to see if they will last. In terms of the effects on the physical body they can be degrading, but I feel like running is worse for your joints than skiing is. Unless your casing jumps everyday.

Theres alot of really talented people who just got what they wanted from skiing and left, mostly because the amount of energy you put into your passion isn't returned to you in terms of financial stability, and if you get in a major accident its like....damn.

Aw hell, im rambling again, but yea I wish Jmo was still skiing. He was like the first kid on 100mm underfoot skis in comps and SENDING it.

Hey I'm Jamieson.

Nice to think that people are still thinking of me in the ski world...thank you sir

I went though a lot of back pain knee pain and concussions , it got to the point for my last three years of skiing that I would be skiing in pain almost everyday, which sucked.. I am a larger set kid and all of my weight going down on my back and knees started to take a toll on me. I mostly just fish and surf now. I do get out to ride sometimes though too, I always will, still love it... It's hard to have something you have done your whole life and just have it stop like that, but life goes on...

It will always make me feel sick to my stomach that it had to end like that, but I felt like I got out at a good time, wasn't the good old days anymore ... I don't know any fucking kid out there that just wants to be throwing back to back doubles in there runs because it feels good, shit wasn't as fun anymore , just took away from all the style and other kids that were in it not for the reason to win, but for the reason to have fun and show some of there creativity...

I respect all the guys that are in it for that reason still, not many left but they are there.

Thanks for putting up this post, glad I got to see er...

Fuck yeah dude! Glad to hear from you and thanks so much for stopping in with the update. You were a killer out there, but don't let it get you down. Sometimes you find the most enjoyment in skiing after 'leaving' the scene.

Best skiing is soul skiing.

Where you living these days?

Dewd your a legend.

400% understandable. There are many good and beautiful things in life other than skiing forshoz.

i still wish style kids could stay in the sport longer...............................

comps are GNAR now lol

This is truth. I don't even understand why kids even bother taking up competitive skiing anymore. If i were 13 years old and i knew to become "pro" someday id have to do a quad or something on a regular basis i'd say see ya and play golf , straight up haha

Kinda a shame now, not to disrespect comp skiers but its disappointing. Wish they could come to some mutual agreement for them all just to unofficially re start the comp scene and make FIS adjust to them. Honestly, I would vote for a completely new format
