Jj 2.0 vs ak jj 2.0

first off let me say i know this should have gone in the gear forum. However, no one looks at that shit in the summer and there are some good deals floating around for both of these skis right now.

im 5'10'' 160 lbs

i do love to charge hard and hit cliffs but ill be honest im not dropping anything more than 15 feet except on a perfect day with 8 beers in me. most of my shredding with one of these bad boys will be taking place inbounds at snowbird/alta. that being said this december ill be balling out at mustang powder cats for 5 days, however my knowledge to this point would be that the non-ak jj's could suffice for even the bottomless pit that is that place. i would have just bought the jj 2.0s by now but when i told my dad to buy 185 jj 2.0s, his response was this;

"dont those things come in a stiffer 195, you pussy"

so that being said im open to discussion. thanks for any help

tldr; 5'10'' 165 lbs. shredder but not t hall. 185 jj 2.0 vs 195 ak jj 2.0

Your post was so long you gained 5 pounds between the start and the end.

For real tho I think the regular jjs would be fine for you. I'm not an expert but as far as I can tell unless if you really want to charge and go straight a lot the aks might be more than you want in an every day ski. I'm making the wild assumption that aks are just a stiffer version with less tail rocker.

im just a little bigger than you and i thought the 185 JJs felt like rollerblades, in a bad way, same with norwalks which are similar but no tailer rocker and maybe a little burlier. havent tried the 195s/JJ 2s, so take that for what it's worth

This. They are a soft, tree sing powder ski. Get them into variable/high speeds and they will get squirrely. Never tried the AK.

There are much better skis for you out there OP....why so set on a jj?

I think it comes down to what length ski you are more comfortable riding. If you normally ride a 175-180, get the 185 JJ. If you like something around 190, go for the AKJJ.

I've seen guys bigger than you rocking the 185 JJ(and 175), but I also ski with a guy much smaller than you, and he killed it on AKJJs.
