Jibskate? Worst Idea

after reading the title, i thought to myself "jibskate? that sounds awesome, how can it be the worst idea ever?" and then i read the first post and looked at the site. Indeed it is the worst idea ever.

"And because its skate skiing, you can skate back and try a jump over and over again without waiting in lift lines or hiking."

Still not worth it.

wow these look incredibly gay

theres a good view of them at 1:09

It's more gay than snowblades. It's a bunch of cross country skiers thinking they are jibbers, you don't see skiers try to ski cross country tracks with twintips...sooo my point is that cross country skiers should stay were they belong, in the cross country tracks.

no steeze at all, when they hit rails their legs are all over the place it looks hilarious

watch the video they have..... talk about steezy

if cross country skiers wanna take up freeskiing they should buy some real twintips, not try to turn cross country into a jibfest.

LOL @ video.

But seriously...

These things would work well to practice with at a sledding hill or something... I'm not sure what looks more stupid... summer "jibbing" w/ real skis (skiboots and shorts = hilarious sight!) or riding these at your local sledding hill. Granted, you will be seen more by the public with the latter :)

First off, I would definitely get in shape skating back up the hill on these vs. taking my skis off and hiking. Secondly, they are very light so practicing on small jumps and rails would be easy, but at the same time, pretty similar feeling as if you were on skis (still requires balance and coordination). Thirdly, these will help you get to Chad's Gap from the bottom of Alta.

JibSkates FTW!!! Lol.

That's stupid. If they wanna jib why don't they just put on some real skis. They'd have way more fun. If I want to skate ski I don't put on twin tips.

ok first off jib skates arnt new. they have been out for quit a few years, x-country skiiing is a huge thing in my town and having some freestyle x-country skis is not bad at all, sure you cant do rails but there fun to fool around with and there not going to break when you do jumps, unlike normal race x-country skis. its baisicly telemarking gone extremer, the waist on jib skates is around 80mm so you have to have alot of balance and skill to use them,

dont hate on what you dont know

i dont looks like a great way to hurt yourself and why dont you just get regular skis instead

For people who have way too much money on their hands, id much rather have a good ski that I can take in the park and then run around groomers with. This is pointless, sure I bet its hellishly light, but so stupid, look for these at your local ski shops bargain bin at the end of the season.

First. Hiking is not big deal, and it does get you in quit good shape.

second. these are light and flimsy and do not replicate the feeling of skiing at all. Your heels are completely free but it does not even replicate a lighter version of tele-skiing there is absoloutly no resistance in teh bindings leaving them to flop around and be awkward in the air.

Third: your a tool.

cross country and park are not ment to mix, as someone who has seen and actually tried these i can tell your they are a complete joke....

Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it is stupid. This ski is targeted at absolutely no one in this thread that i have seen. To be frank, most everyone above is quite ignorant to the sport of cross country skiing, and therefore does not have a valid opinion on the jibskate. I think they are cool for cross country skiers. That is all.

I thought this was newschoolers not e-thug universe. What everybody is saying about the "jibskate" sounds alot like what the hardcore gate bashers say about park rats. I tried the whole nordic thing it wasnt for me but why is everyone hating on those who like it.

you your all a bunch of fucking ass holes.

yo if you nordic ski, why not train on a ski that you can be like, fuck i wanna go bust some tricks on?

i did nordic all through highschool and that shit is rugged. those races a fucking hard. and alot of my early tricks i learned on nordic skis. i learned back flips for christs sake on them
