Jiberish Spring/Summer '13

I don't think I would wear this as is. I think I would put it under a coat, zip-up, or button up. The design is nice and abstract.

if they offer it on a white or gray shirt ill definitely pick it up, but its just too much traditional japanese with the black background IMO

again. I've gained so much more respect for you. selling out isn't offering to sell your product in widespread boutiques, that is just wanting to make more money off of your business. what is selling out is following the patterns that other companies are. I posted something along the lines of "that looks a lot like something Supreme would cook up" on the picture on FB of the Floral Button-Down with the tan accents, and Pete deleted it and sent me several page+ messages on how I'm not a designer so my input means little and less, and how he doesn't care if people say his work looks like shit, but he was personally offended I said it looked a bit like something another "streetwear" company would sell.

If I knew how to on this shitty old laptop, I would take screenies. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the quality, but I also enjoyed the designs on previous pieces. I don't buy Jiberish because of it's design anymore, I'm really just paying for the name and a logo painted on, or sewn, depending. The only piece this year I would have really jumped at the winter drop to get, would be the Teal or Black Lenape.

There are 2 sides to every story and I would be happy to post the entire interaction since he has seemed to have left out some details which might be pertinent to his assessment of the situation. It is on my Facebook message log so I have it on record.

jiberish literally looks nothing like supreme. I don't understand how people hate the way jiberish is going, it's a brand that makes good-looking, mature street wear but is still related to skiing. That sounds pretty good to me.

I'm usually pretty critical of Jiberish, but I like the direction this ss collection is going. May have to cop a few things

Personally not liked anything ive seen so far but I'd like to be surprised. I'm quite picky about what I like so maybe its just a case of they've progressed to a style I just don't appreciate and I should move on. I'm not going to say they should change to meet what I or anybody likes, they don't owe anybody jack shit. The last thing I seriously considered buying was the tangled hood and since then I've hardly bought any clothes so its not just jiberish I'm not enjoying.

I'm pretty sure most of newschoolers just can't comprehend Jiberish being a little more streetwear oriented. Just because they make a 5 panel doesn't mean they are trying to be like supreme.

If your in this thread to see Jiberish products, just skim through and look at the pictures. Reading the posts is a waste of time

how come no one ever desides to buy "ski hoodies" from "ski hoodie companies"? why would you just complain about a streetwear company that obviously has roots in skiing and tailored many of their designs to that niche in the clothing world. they moved on. accept it. buy hoodies that dont say "jiberish" on them if you want hoodies that are xxxxl. Nilton, Fasc (or fasq whatever), M.Elihu, Saga, Edoggo, Choice Apparel, orage, line, full tilt, moment, plenty soul apparel, and many others offer a good selection of hoodies meant for skiing in. You don't have to stick with one brand I hope you all realize that. You can keep crying about how Jiberish isn't making what you want or move on with your style (or stay with it) and get some new threads. Don't make it harder on yourself.

It is tough to make comparisons to other brands when most NSers can probably only name a few 'streetwear' brands and know little/nothing about the small nuances that separate one article/style of clothing from another, myself included.

Saying that any piece of clothing 'looks like supreme' seems pretty much like a troll comment to me, whether it was meant to be or not. I'm not sure why Pete even wastes his time dealing with all the kids who will probably not even understand the arguments he's making.

As a disclaimer I do not know or pretend to know anything about 'streetwear' or fashion, I just wear clothes I like from whatever company that makes them, often that is Jiberish because I can't afford many of the other ridiculously expensive brands, not many other people wear/know about them and I like the taller and slimmer fit as I am pretty tall.

Streetwear isn't a fucking thing. Everyone needs to stop saying streetwear. Yes, there are two sides to every story, I apologize for bringing it up, back to the topic.

Streetwear is not a type of clothing, it isn't a thing, drop it. Five panels and floral designs? Nothing like supreme? Okay.

streetwear isn't a thing? that makes no fucking sense. streetwear is obviously "a thing" because it's a massive industry in our country and internationally. you really just sound stupid trying make comparisons to a brand you obviously know nothing about. Jiberish is supreme because they make 5 panels? literally 90% of streetwear brands make 5 panels. Jiberish is supreme because they make things with floral print? again so do most other streetwear brands. You really need to stop talking about things you know nothing about. comparing jiberish to supreme is flat out stupid.

The pockets look sewn on unevenly. Makes it look uber tacky.

Also to the post above me:

This is why Jiberish to me isn't that great. It just looks like all the stuff I can already buy in jackthreads/karmaloop except its more expensive. Albiet some pieces are truly exclusive to Jiberish but most are just similar to other brands.

RIGHT?!

I've thought this for so long: so many pieces have so much potential, and then they go and add something retarded like those pockets or huge patterned parts. So much of their "streetwear" stuff looks exactly like something you'd find on plndr or jackthreads, there's just something weird about it.

Although the floral grand cru's do look pretty fucking cool

OBVIOUSLY JUST MY OPINION, can't seem to post anything remotely critical without hurting feelings

ITT: kids who know nothing about clothing/design bitching about things they have no control over because they are to broke/lack decent taste

Pete, you are killing it with this line. Don't let these cooks get to you

What he doesn't get lol. Read Pete's post, it says he is making clothing that he thinks will sell/likes/friends like. I was browsing Jackthreads and Seshday yesterday, and found so many pieces that have similar designs and patterns, and most of the shirts were 15-30$. Food for thought. I will probably buy another hoodie next year for riding, but may give my business to Saga, a company that is deeply in touch with their fan-base, and aren't following every single trend.

Arguments like this are fucking hilarious. You don't have to know JACK SHIT about clothing or fashion design to form an opinion what looks good and bad, or to see blatant similarities between brands because they have no original ideas anymore. As for your next argument...I could easily afford to purchase any single article of clothing Jiberish has ever released, and I'm willing to bet that a majority of NS could too, so why even try to bring that up? Jiberish isn't even expensive, and, even if it was, expensive =/= good. Annddd then there's always the argument about "taste." You really think wearing obnoxious floral and camouflage prints from head to toe shows you have good "taste" in clothing? Are you fucking nuts? Let's get real, kid.

For what it's worth...I still like Jiberish and have a couple of their sweatshirts, but this whole "streetwear" bullshit is just laughably stupid. If Pete says he's not in it for the money, why does he try so desperately hard to copy what other bigger name "streetwear" brands are doing with their clothing lines? Wouldn't he just keep making what his customers want, regardless of the size of that population? No, because despite what he tells you on an internet message board, he IS in it for the money, and not expanding his business is just his idiotic way of teling you he hasn't sold out, when in fact it seems like Jiberish sold out to the "streetwear" crowd a long time ago.

Bottom line, they really need to interact more with their customers, re do the website and release a product that the customers want, not what his little circle of friends wants. Also he shouldn't be responding to these things and getting in arguments with kids on the Internet. Show some class and professionalism.

this shit is hilarious. almost forgot why I stopped interacting on ns, but you guys remind me everytime I log in. 15 year olds who still wear "tall shit" off the mountain because they think it is skiings identity. it also was skatings identity and snowboardings identity prior to that. get over it. we are a part of a scene with the most laughable sense of style of any action sport not called motorcross. the stuff jiberish is putting out is 10x better than it has ever been. kudos to them for doing something to change the image you keep hanging onto that died years ago. this is why this sport will always lag behind in the respect dept no matter how much we do to correct it.

not all of the new stuff I would wear but the stuff I've seen online is extremely unique and forward and I'm stoked for it and for them.

See that's what gets me. I wouldn't wear half this stuff in public, because of the oddity factor, but paying 30$ or whatever for a tank top, just wearing it around seems like a waste.

why should they make clothing for the customers? is it wrong to make clothing that you and your friends actually enjoy? anyways most of the style is with popular streetwear trends, so its not too off anyways.

the first sentence is "they need to interact with their customers more" then you completely contradict yourself with" he shouldnt be responding to these things". when he responds to "these things" he is interacting with the customers. if he wants to argue with some people over if they think his stuff is cool or not, thats his decision. but if you've ever seen most any other jiberish thread, pete really takes in peoples input.

sorry to be harsh about it but your post was awful

not at all. obviously they arent having any problems with money making clothing that they enjoy. why should they cater to you? if you like the clothing, cool buy some. if you don't, go buy another brand
