Jiberish's strongest roots will always be in skiing from a marketing standpoint but to call a lifestyle clothing company a 'ski brand' just doesn't make sense.
We even mention in the article that we feel we are a 'marketing and branding company' above being a 'clothing company.' Again, we do cringe when someone tries to define us. I think the Evan and the article did a good job of covering that, and even mentioned our most loyal following is skiers. Evan, who wrote this, is a skier himself and has followed the brand for a long time.
The Jiberish brand is about community and common ground, everyone on Newschoolers shares skiing. That said all of our athletes, artists and family have other interest that tie into Jiberish and influence the brand. Skiing, art, music, skate, snowboarding, wine, streetwear, food, the list could go on and on. We will never try to be something we are not but we will always incorporate aspects of our lives into this brand.
Tom Wallsich skis yes, but he also likes to listen to music, eat food, snowboard sometimes, skate, etc. Is his biggest focus on skiing, yes. I would say Jiberish is very much the same. Our marketing focuses on our team of athletes and the vast majority of our team are skiiers.
I love to see the dialogue around the article though, Pete, Dave and I hate to do interviews because you leave it all up to how the writer wants to tell the story and that requires a great deal of trust. We had 100% trust in Evan based on his skiing roots, interest in the brand and think he did Jiberish proud.
Just a little more insight into how we think about the topics discussed, didn't want to interrupt discussion but hope this helps clarify.
