jibbing trees

since most people here are jibbers.

what do you jib?

how about trees, rocks and ice-ledges?

i´ve only seen mike douglas do it a few times.

since trees is a natural part of skiing terrain that´d be a lot cooler than all those rails and rails and rails...

i´ve only bonked a few trees myself, never slid any.

found this by the way:
http://www.transworldsnowboarding.com/magazines/twsnow/articles/01/4138.html

it´s an interview with Marc Frank Montoya.

i think he has a good point. i mean the same goes for skiing. but i guess as long you´re having fun it doesn´t really matter what you do.

Do you think snowboarding on rails has gotten to be a bit like Rollerblading on rails?

I have a certain rule about rails: if you can’t snowboard to the rail yourself, then you shouldn’t be doing it. Don’t have somebody pulling you while you’re stuck in your bindings so you can jump on the rail–that’s stupid, that’s ridiculous. You might as well get some Soap Shoes and run yourself to the rail so you can slide down it. I don’t believe in bringing snow to the rail and having fools pull me into it. It’s cool to bring snowboarding to other levels; biting skateboarding is okay, but doing it that much is stupid.

Where do you see snowboarding going?

If it were up to me, it would go back to good big-mountain riding, big dope tricks, big powder jumps and cliffs, new-school tricks off of cliffs, jibbing trees in different ways. Hopefully it doesn’t go anymore in the direction of people going to the city when it snows. Snowboarding has got to be its own dope sport.

i love log grinding, and it's so much easier and safer then doing rails. When the park is busy me and my friends always take off into the woods find a log put it in an opening and grind it. It's really fun and i've never gotten hurt doing it. Im actually surprised how easy it is to slide a log, but everyone should try it, plus it just looks kick ass.

skiing is the most amazing sport there is.

me and sumosanta found this 15 foot log in the woods and we put it up, it was so much fun but then a liftie made us stop doing it...

dont your skis get caught on knots on the trees and stuff like that?

i like to jib trees...they are hard though cause there are knots in the wood that like grab your edges and send you face first into the log

at silverstar i found a roll on log out of a 10 foot cliff and it was ten feet long and i didnt cus it was icy but im sure people have on snowboards and i dont know about skis but grinded it and then dropped 20 feet to snow, that would be soo nice.

maybe

I like the natural stuff a lot more than all this new park stuff like staircases and crazy rails but its still cool. I think its ok for people to go urban, for me its when I can't go ski a mountain or when we dont have anysnow on the ground. I think the manmade stuff is fine as long as it is in addition to the real stuff, nature. After all thats where skiing started!

Tree jibbing is cool, cuz you surprise all those old people in their one-pieces.
