God Damn right it is...I have lost all respect for the big mountain riders who attempt to destroy the image of park/urban skiing. Would you really expect a football player to be able to play all positions? Didn't think so...but an offensive linemen is sure as shit as much a football player as a wide receiver.

The fact remains...that people such as Kristen Ulmer - i.e. those who can't slide rails or hit a jump or rock the pipe - people who are not part of the newschool movement are subconciously pissed that they aren't apart of this..because THIS is the new face of skiing..WE are the new face of skiing! So please stop trying to make up for inadequacies as a skier by hatin' on us...

yes it is skiing...your on skis sliging down a hill, that is skiing right? Conversation over, done. Its just a differnet form, not your traditional type of skiing who cares what anyone says just go out there and have fun, that is the reason we all ski

jibbin is the new wave, and anyone can do it. Just strap on some skis and hit up the local park. I think the Big Mtn riders get pissed because so many 'newschoolers' these days (not all) lack the skill to make a decent arc or hold an edge for that matter. Big Mtn riding is extremely techinical and takes more than a few seasons to master.

Ya totally dude, it is skiing. The sport has evolved in a long way(obviously). Its just the same as any sport there is progression into other fields such as urban riding(Mt bike)ex. styles. Its personal, and just the way you want it, style/accomplishments.

a few seasons to master the park? bull shit. i have akready been a park rat a few seasons and havent tried inverts. this year will be different but i will still only scratch the surface of what can be done.even once you can do the trick, there is consistancy and style. master in a couple years? i think not

you cannot deny that there are many jibbers who cannot make a decent turn. This is the main reason i think big mtn hates on jibbers. I do not hate...so dont hate on me

yes you have skis on your feet then its skiing no matter what your can't debate it, look at snowboarders for gods sake in jackass they were snowboardnig with out snow even down city streets so what else would u call it?

I think Jeff Holden said a real nice sentence to that topic in a interview of

'skiing - the next level'. The question was, if he is worrying about the large success of jibbing. Then he said, that anyone should ski their one way. If someone likes to slide urban rails all the time, it's well. If someone always gets off 100+ ft cliffs, (like Jeff) then noone should have a doubt of his spirit. Holden said, that jib has its roots in backcountry and big mountain. 'Hopefully we'll not forget our roots!'
