Congratulations to Spencer Milbrocker, the first Jib Academy online contest winner! Spencer will be joining Jib Academy winners from all over the globe in Mammoth, California to ski with the entire Salomon pro team.

Spencer recently competed in the Seven Springs Jib Academy, scoring a close second behind Noah Killen. After viewing his edit, the Salomon Team was impressed with Spencer's natural style that almost seemed effortless. They also noted his rail tricks and smooth switch 5's.

Salomon will still be awarding 4 more trips to Mammoth from these video edits. Get to work and show us why you should deserve to join Spencer and the Salomon crew at Mammoth Mountain!

Thanks to everyone who participated, voted and supported the first round of entries! Keep em coming!

too bad u guys didnt chose alex bellemare but im sure hes going to win the other one or something isnt running right.

alex bellemare will probably(99%) win the trip when salomon comes to Tremblant, this might be why they didn't pick him haha does anyone have a link to the edits though?

Ever met the kid, Milbocker?Hes kind of REALLY cocky and a dick.havent met one kid that truely liked him..is this the rigth thing to do?

Jib Academy Online Syllabus

  • February 8th Edit deadline for February 15th contest
  • February 9th top five edits announced for February 15th contest
  • February 9th thru February 14th Voting on NS for February 15th contest
  • February 15th First Online Winner Announced

1. Top five edits were never announced.

2. Several edits posted late--should count towards second week.

3. Voting should have ended Feb. 14th

This is why people are freaking.

Ditto.

Salomon knows what they are doing, most of you who posted your unhappiness, don't. I'll leave it at that.

The way salomon did it, was best. If NS had all the power, then people would vote 10 for friend and 9 for everyone else. The way they have it is best for everyone involved. I voted for some of the videos and went based on footage. I only knew one person in the contest and gave him a 6 because his wasnt the best.

First things first...congrats to Spencer for winning week 1. Good skiing, came in second at the Jib stop, and worked to make an edit for a second chance at it. Perfect example of what this online comp if for.
Now, I am the one who shot, and made the edit for Seamus so yeah im a lil bummed for him that he didnt make it, but there are also 4 more weeks of this competition. There were a lot of great skiers who entered in the first, and if they re-submit, then 4 more of them will be headed to California as well. Its absolutly embarrassing to see some of your guys responses on here but... ITS A FREE COMPETITION!! and its a great thing that Salomon is doing for the sport. If you think other wise than you have some serious problem. They are giving kids a free week to ski with pros in paradise...whats wrong with you for bashing them for that???
Guys its great that you are supporting your local riders and most likely..you want the best for them right??? Well this isnt the way to do it. Give positive support.
NOW WITH CLOSING THOUGHTS..-GOOD LUCK TO ALL REMAINING CONTESTANTS
-THANKS TO SALOMON AND NS TO COMING UP WITH THIS IDEA AND CONTEST FOR THE KIDS
-AND ITS FUN TO SHOOT AND EDIT FOR THESE KIND OF COMPETITIONS, IF YOU DONT LIKE IT KEEP IT TO YOURSELF, AND DONT RUIN IT FOR THE REST OF US...ESPECIALLY THE KIDS

Hear hear! This is someone who gets it. This contest is all about having fun, and yes your votes counted, but were weighted against a system levied with salomon team voting. I handled all the voting, and it was done blindly. It was a close one, but the winner was Spencer and that is that!

Sure things weren't super smooth, but yeah there are FOUR more rounds left. Focus on the positives here, if you came second this time around then probably you have a good chance to get first in rounds 2-5. Now of course we're going to have to remove user ratings due to this much drama being caused, and those of you causing the drama you've soured the mouths of Salomon who is offering FIVE ALL EXPENSES PAID TRIPS TO MAMMOTH FOR AN ONLINE CONTEST.

Keep is positive, leave the hate at home. Be stoked for Spencer and get your edit ready for Round #2. Seamus sure was killing it, and people who kill it keep killing it. I'm sure he'll be a force to be reckoned with in every subsequent round.

Good sportsmanship is why I chose skiing as my favorite sport. Keep it that way, we're all in this as a team, and there's no need to tighten the vibe with all the hate.

And Salomon stuff rules... I've been using it for years and have never had a problem. Don't hate on product just because you're angry about judging.

the only thing that i dont fancy......

isnt the point of the online submission for those skiers who DIDNT have a chance to go to any other jib academys, just wondering becuase i also saw nipples up there with his edit after he JUST competed in PA.......im not saying you need to go do background checks on these guys, but it seems a little unfair to some others

alright well im throwing my apolegy out there. sorry for acting all pissed i guess the rules are right. nice job spencer and good luck to everyone who can and does compete... sorry for acting so immature

ya i regrettimg what i said some too, kinda dickish

but i still have one real complaint and i think most of u will agree with me: WHat happened to selecting 5 vids to be voted on? was the whole concept scrapped or did they forget to put them up. The whole thing is that it didnt go "by the rules" along w/ some vids being posted late. Especially with contests like this the rules should be followed so there is a even feild, especially when the prize is that large. So if this is the way its gonna run for the rest of it i think we should know/have the rules changed to say so so its clear to everyone.

yuup...I ski with spence all the time at bittersweet. Hes progresing sooo fucking fast . New shit everday. Look for this kid to blow up in the near future fo sho!!!

Another thing I would like to point out I thought that the online contest was for kids who wernt able to make it to a competition spencer clearly had his chance at 7 springs and didnt win, another reason why I think this is total bullshit

seriously?

killens would have won no matter what.

that he got second at the stop only says more about his dedication to skiing, and his skill

Yes but when I read about the online contest it clearly said we are doing this for kids who are unable to attend a stop. I just think salomon did a poor job with this online contest in general I mean props to the kid he fucking kills it but I think salomon should stick to their word.

Personally from the edits of 7 springs that i've seen, I think Spence should've won in the first place. He was doing better tricks with waay better style.

Well then the kid who won, (or if spencer won and he got second), he would just drop an edit to try to get into the contest. Thats how it goes, I can see where some people may be upset that there are some kids out there putting edits in that attended a stop...but how are you going to regulate that. Maybe that would be a good idea to only allow kids that wernt able to attend a stop to submit an entry. But im sure that would get really really difficult to maintain. I may have got my wording messed up there but hope ya got what i was getting at.

Either way they are free trips for a chance to paradise for these lil guys, its a great thing to see. I film with a kid that won a stop last year. He was pushed a ton from that week last year, and has progressed by leaps and bounds this year. An 11 year old kid filming urban dubs with me, not to mention flat spins, rodeos, wrap grabbed 10s and 12`s...if ya havent herd of Willie Borm..you will

It gives a good chance to kids anywhere in the US to enter, and in this case, a second chance qualifier so to speak. Makes it a lil more intersting.
now I just hope my lil buddy Seamus makes it...haha

what if one enters a video now but has a jib acad stop later this season at thier mountain or a stop they can attend?

I dont want to be rude, but it sounds like alex b is just off the hook and that he cant win for that reason. Anyway, if he doesnt make that trip to mammoth, this is just weird.

I don't think he should of won, so many other kids with so much more potential. Kids good, but some of the other skiers could be so good in a few years, that's my opinion though.

Spencer does have a smooth style and is very personable however there were a lot of kids there who throw bigger and more technical than what was in the edits from Seven Springs. The Jib Academies are more about getting together and having fun than a full on competition.

the online contest is for kids who cant go to a jib academy contest, so it is dumb spencer won bcuz he got to go to a contest and didnt win!!!!!

the best kids should go to mammoth. kids travel from all over to compete at the jib academy stops. just because someone doesn't win a stop doesn't mean they're not good enough to make it to mammoth. competing at a stop and not winning shouldn't disqualify you from winning an online spot. the best skiers should go to mammoth. what you're talking about is just an excuse for kids who aren't dedicated enough to travel to a stop to get an advantage with the online competition. the best skiers should win spots, regardless of if they competed at a stop.

The boys put this edit together with what they had in the back seat of the truck on our 8 hour drive home to make deadline. If they would have had more time you would have seen better stuff. You kids all have some huge talent. Keep on rippin and entertaing this old dude.
