MoleHill Of The Month

Big boulder & Jack Frost ski areas

Blakeslee and lake harmony, pennsylvania

besides heart-shaped tubs and champagne towers, pennsylvania's rolling pocono mountains offer from 60 to 100 inches of natural snow every year. With full coverage snow making, the sister hills Jack frost and big boulder get shellacked enough for a four month season. Bump yourself down silly jack's 600-vertical-foot shots, then jib away those long pocono nights at Big boulder park (lights and lifts run until 9pm on weeknights; 10pm on saturdays)

-Sandra Gnandt

Must Ski:

Jack frost is the only ski area in Northeastern pennsylvania that allows tree skiing. T-bolt glade (JF's biggest) hides silky blown in snow days after a storm. Duck skier left off the abstract lift to acces it.

Local wisdom:

"much of the staff is young and aggressive, and they get creative with the grooming and snowmaking by adding dips, curves, and whoops in the terrain. It gives the place that big mountain feeling"
