yeah thats sucks but just want to give you a heads up cuz my cousin had a 02 jetta with around the same milage and it need like $5000 worth of work.

For what its worth my friend bought a 2001 jetta vr6 with 129,000 on it. He has had it for two year now, and hasnt put more then $2,500 in it.

Sounds like a good deal. It's only 6 years old, it's not just going to break down. As long as you maintain it it will be fine, just like any other car. Blue book on a jetta gl ( lowest model) is 5500.

However if it's got the 2.0 liter it will be really slow. I'd jump on it if it's the 1.8T, tdi, or vr6 though.

just stay away from the turbo(1.8t) turbo is always the first thing to go wrong in vw and audis try to get a vr6 or the gli(turbo but sick car)

o ya dont get a jetta, my friends 97, N/A is a piece its constantly in th shop costing him lots of money, as is my saab, but its currently dead thanks to shitty drivers, but stay away from those types of cars.

I'm guessing it's the 2.0L engine. which is good. that many miles, make sure the timing belt has been done for sure. and if everything looks nice, and it runs smooth, then it's fine. That many miles on a 2.0 is nothing big, but on a 1.8 or VR there might be cause for cnocern. Maybe drop down the price to 4K or lower though as well...
