Kanye West's new video 'Jesus Walks' is pretty damn sweet, but in the end it shows some huge cross burning and a kkk guy on fire. Its pretty crazy...

patj

ctripper, he probably took that line in homage to jay since they're label mates and all. rappers do that a lot.

yah, h to the izzo isnt that good anyways.. why don't they stop re-mixing his cd, its had enough... but I just thought that cross burning and kkk guy would cause some controversy... guess ss not..

patj

The symbolism in jesus walks, with the black guy putting on the kkk garb, carrying the cross, burning the cross etc. is pretty interesting. Definitely deeper than the majority of rap videos i've seen.

Eggs and bacon please, eggs over skeezy

3 fucking videos for the same god damned song!? Is he putting out a video for every track?

He's serving up bullshit with the 'controversial' video. And everyone's eating it up

I could make a video with Jesus sucking off George Bush. Doesn't mean it deserves a second look. Everyone's gonna say; 'wow, that shit's deep!', when really I'm just an attention slut.

Oh yea... I'm really diggin' his jesus bling. What a bitch.

Unfortunately the mainstream media is just about as one-sided as Micheal Moore is anymore. With the exception of Fox News, they're a little better.

im still on the fence about kanye, granted he's getting respect for rhymes that have thought and he's a pretty concious cat, but it seems like he's the link thats bringing all the good rappers into the pop world ie. mos, talib, common and dialated.

jesus walks is a huge track though.... i am an atheist and i respect the shit out of that track

yah I really didn't know who Kanye was until he broke his jaw... and that song came out..

patj

I thought 'Never Let me Down' was far and away the best track on the cd. No contest. But Jesus Walks is pretty damn good. The CD has it's strong points but I found it gets weak at times. I won't question his sick production skills though.

Hey Jesus, did you order a cab? -Robin Williams

there's a war going on? I better grab my gat, I wasn't aware. -Ghostdragon

why would i bother doing a misty 9? id much rather sit here at home, get my dick sucked by your fat ass bitch of a mom, smoke some pot and eat tons of food

too much credit, i guess he is better than a lot of mainstream rap but i still dont like him much. any rapper who makes up words have no respect from me. its a weak cd with no meaning which i was hopiong for. his rhymes arent extrodanarily quick, fluent, or difficult.

Now niggaz can't make it to ballots to choose leadership

But we can make it to Jacob's and to the dealership

Swear I hear new music and I just don't be feelin it

Racisms still alive, they just be concealin it

Man I promise, I'm so self conscious

That's why you always see me with at least one of my watches

Rollies and Pasha's done drove me crazy

I can't even pronounce nothing, pass that versace!

Then I spent 400 bucks on this

Just to be like nigga you ain't up on this!

And I can't even go to the grocery store

Without some ones thats clean and a shirt with a team

It seems we living the american dream

But the people highest up got the lowest self esteem

The prettiest people do the ugliest things

For the road to riches and diamond rings

We shine because they hate us, floss cause they degrade us

We trying to buy back our 40 acres

And for that paper, look how low we a'stoop

Even if you in a Benz, you still a nigga

yup, no meaning

I'm a big fan of kanye. I dont really listen to much mainstream rap, but there's something about Kanye's beats that I really like. They are more 'fun' than a lot of the other mainstream rap these days.

dl incognito... universal love. says that we shouldnt all be fighting and get along

2pac(yes there is some meaning).... dear momma... tells the story of a pregnant teenager.changes....says how there needs to be some major social changes between blacks and whites and even amoungst blacks.

black eyed peas.... one love although it got very annoying it had the same meaning as universal love.

prrof enough? if you think thats not meaning then compare it to P.I.M.P. or gangSTA

member 5054

those songs aren't any more meaningful than the lyrics i posted. wow, universal love, let's all get along, how deep and original.

yah, anyways not all songs have to be meaningfull and symbolistic of something, as long as they have a good beat and lyrics that sound good.

patj

i'm just saying that you ripped on kanye's lyrics for not being meaningful and then you post songs about a generic topic like world peace and tupac songs with the same meaning as the lyrics i posted.

theres a big difference between being a concious rapper (common, mos, old kwali, atmos) who rap about the need for change, about awareness of social issues and issues that need that are important to the youth culture and the black community, and MEANINGFUL rap.... lil' john is a meaningful rapper, he raps about his goblet, and how he like girls so much....chingy is a MEANINGFUL rapper, he raps about how he likes it when you do that right thurrrr.... MEANINGFUL entails nothing more then having MEANING. being a concious rapper carries alot more weight and respect.

i think kanye's gonna bring concious rap to the forefront and get us out of the whole bling and bitches phase. i know his songs aren't extremely special with their message or anything, but he actually tries to address issues in a lot of his songs and now that he's so popular he can do more of that, and in turn bring people like talib kweli more success so they can get their message out, too.

I think tupac is comparable to Kanye because they were both pretty mainstream, althought totally different rap styles, they both had a message in some songs...

patj

I saw Kanye's concert thing on MTV for a little while.. and he doesn't seem that good in concert at all, he actually sucked.. but it might've been cause I wasn't there and saw it on MTV.
