Jesus = Normal Human?

well we studied in astronomy that the big bang came from built up energy waves.

and before that, well, you have a point. Maybe there is a god. I am an agnostic, not an athiest. This doesnt mean I believe in the bible and church and the stories and shit. I dont believe in Jesus or any of that hell, heaven, or sinning shit. I only believe in the possibility of there being a higher form or power, behind and before the big bang.

but I also equally believe in the universe just being a blank sheet, empty space (other than all the astronomical occurences). As if it were not meant to be observed fully and completely by any concious species. Maybe "living" means able to reproduce, or maybe it means unable to understand the big archetype of creation itself. Perhaps to understand creation and be a living creature at the same time would be an anomoly, or ambivalence. Two opposites co-existing in the same dimensions and terms. It makes no sense to me. I mean in space, you have to ditch everything you take for granted. There isnt even a left or right, and up or down. Relativity gets fucked out there. It is in a place where light can be sucked into a hole as if it were some tangible object. A place where time conceptually acts as if it were tangible.

and thats as far as I get when I think of religion. After that, I am just left blank and right back where I started:

oblivion.

it doesnt make any sense to say that there has to be a "creator" without explination where the "creator" came from..

your disbeliefe in one thing is the reason you believe in the other -- how can you understand your own rationality?

wow Time definatly has bad grammar... it should be Jesus' tomb not Jesus's... I think, maybe not, who knows?? anyways that would be cool cause Jesus was a good guy

in my opinion the facts supporting evolution to be tue disprove most religions, however, i do agree that after you get through all the scientific theories something had to create the matter in the first place.

^ yeah id say whether or not there is some sort of remains in the tomb tells whether he resurrected or not... and as the story goes there wasnt.. so he really did resurrect right? but he was human... could it be, that some one stole jesus' body... and an act of thievery fueled the creation of the most dominant religions in the world today... christianity and islam... now wouldnt that just be fucked up...

i dunno if islam has any mentioning of jesus... but i know the bible and koran both refer to the same higher diety... God for christians... Allah for islam...

I wonder if this story would be getting any press if James Cameron wasn't behind it. The archaeological community seems pretty insulted that it's being taken seriously. Either way, it's interesting and thought-provoking stuff.

ah I like this, because if you can say "well god has always just been there" why can't you say "well the universe has always just been there"?

no i would really like to know what you think jesus did to make the world beter

seriously

i dont see why he was any different than any other guy crucified back then and its not like he was resurected since we just found his bones

i seriously dont see how people believe this shit like at all

i think jesus is a bunch of who ha and blah blah, i dont understand how people think he existed and cured people, and especially when it came out of a 1000+? year old book. I understand people who use faith to help themselves through something, and thats reasonable, but to believe there is actaully a God that looks over us....ha. People ask how there couldnt be a god because of how perfect the earth is, well, truth is, if it wasnt earth, there would have been some other planet with the right amount of gravity, atmosphere, oxygen, and so on for the human evolution to sprout on. The universe is too big to have a god. But believe what you believe i guess, ive always figured it was a ploy by the goverment to have a means of getting people to follow the law but not for laws sake.

On the topic of Jesus being human, in Christianity it is believed that Jesus was both fully human and fully divine. But his body was shot up to heaven. Now, if they do find said body, the entire Christian belief is shot to shit. Without the whole resurrection part and ascension to heaven Jesus was but a mere man. Personally I hope they found the body, just so I can see evangelists and born agains losing their shit.

umm no they got there and the stone was already rolled away. and there was an angel sitting there. and then mary sees jesus and thinks hes the gardener. so suck it

yea this is retarted. if you dont believe in god keep it to yourself. how would they know if it was the tomb anyways. theres no proof. if they found bones, how would they test them. theres no proof that its jesus, theres no dna for him.

I'm getting a puppy...

Jesus might have had a puppy too...

Maybe I can be god next?

Anyone want to pray to me for eternal life?

I'll write a really good book and do nice things for people, then in 2000 years people can fight wars over me...

however if they found his bones -- hence body there was no resurection, and faith goes out the window...

my question is, if confirmed, whos going to write the jews an appology letter

what does it matter if he was divine and ressurected and crap, he broke the law by speaking out and that my friends is grounds for crucifiction, something he deserved according to the law of his time, not to different to the muslim suicide bombers of today, just the world have become numb to words so they blow thierselves up to speak out about whatever it is they want to speak out about.

so in conclusion jesus was a terroist.

i hope you all know that this was started up again by james camaron......the dude that directed titanic and its all for some documentary.

and how the fuck will they decide that it is the proper bones of jesus and not some other random ass, i dunno mayb dna match with the shoud of turin and prove it to be another stupid hoax, or mayb take it to roswell and get the alien to see what he thinks......all bullshit and i couldnt care less about it

I hope they didn't find jesus' tomb because the church would be fucking ruined forever.

jesus is the man, if he resurrected or not- he still convinced millions of christians over 2000 years thathe was the son of God and even if he's not (i believe he is) that's a fuckin' sick prank- he gets my props either way- real chill dude

If faith counted as a realistic argument, we'd all be able to jump off 200 foot cliffs and stick it. It's stupid to think that saying "oh its true because I believe so" actually counts as an argument.

I have encountered countless facts and such that go against the whole concept of Christianity, but I have not heard one reasonable argument saying that science and agnostics are bullshit.

I especially find it strange when you hear a hardcore Christian talking about how evolution is bullshit. When you present the proven facts directly to their face, all they have to say is "well its lies," or "god bless our lord and savior."

I realize not all Christians are hardcore and crazy like that but I just dont understand the concept of even the slightest bit of faith towards a huge organized religion.

if u ever paid attention in history the reason chirstianity was created to give people comfort during hard times.. so yes it was even bullshit back then.. jesus didnt die and come back to life, we evolved from fuckin monkeys now get over it

Do you people not remember that Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb. He didn't need a permanent tomb because He was only dead for 3 days. So if He had a borrowed tomb then I'm sure the owner of the tomb would use it for himself or a family member later on. So any remains in this tomb aren't Jesus'.

well if its for someone that isnt of any significance to me, then yes.

even if someone believed in Jesus, how is sitting in a boring room a way to show respect?

Im Roman Catholic and I believe in Evolution. The creation stories in the bible were written to be fictional legends/folk tales to show that there was one God and that creation was planned. The Adam and Eve story was written to show how evil entered the world.

Now I don't know what you mean by hardcore Christian, but I go to Church every sunday and go to a Catholic Highschool which forces me to take religion. Am i hardcore?

by hardcore I mean those who are obsessive over their religion and try to force it upon others and shit like that. I doubt you're crazy.

it isnt a way of feeling comfortable, it is common sense....think about it it isnt by chance that we are all here....lets take a look at our bodies for example, they are the most complex most amazing creation known to man only explanation is that there is a God who created us and Jesus is the son of God, and honestly have any of you atheists read the Bible, it has never been proven wrong and it has never contradicted itself once and was written by over 40 authors over a span of 6,000 years and for that to never contradict itself is not just fiction......and Jesus was God in the form of flesh which was his earthly body....he was crucified and buried in a tomb(quoted in the Bible) and he then resurrected 3 days later, i know it is hard to believe but come on he is GOD!!!!!I would rather believe the Bible which hasnt been proven wrong over the media which twists the news every day

first of all, the bible contradicts itself all the time. Ever hear of different priests arguing over which is morally correct? building multi-million dollar churches, or building small modest churches and living with a modest budget. I KNOW that people are always getting into bible fights, using a bible quote to "prove" their point, then the opposing team uses a different quote to "prove" their point, all from THE BIBLE.

and science and media are two completely different things.

thats like saying Anna Nicole's death is the newest breakthrough in science. Evolution and what the next nigger baby Angelina Jolie is adopting is NOT the same thing.

and just to prove my point further, you said "i know it is hard to believe but come on he is GOD!!!!!" I will drop my entire opinion on this subject if you can point out, in that sentence, where a valid point is made.

ohhhkay

http://www.godlessgeeks.com/LINKS/Contradictions.htm

just a quick list someone else has put together of the contradictions in the christain bible, which brings up the point that there are many other religions all of which one who has "faith" in said religion would claim that that religion gives undeniable truths towards its existance; which then leads me to ask you why your bible is more right than the Qur'an or the doctirens of Budhism?

Why is it so hard that after 3.5 billion some odd years things have ended up the way the have. It's not new news that scientists can recreate the atmosphere of early earth, combine that with electricity and voila you get organic compounds that are nessisary for life to begin ---

I think I'd have to agree with you the most of anyone on this.

I don't think any of our religions are truth. I don't think that if there is some higher power it's really all that important for us to worship it.

The real question in my opinion is how did the universe begin? It's been pretty much proven that the big bang theory is correct, but then my question is what caused the big bang? The only thing I can even think of is some diety or god. Of course there could be a million things that happened before the big bang. There is simply too much that we don't understand to draw a conclusion that's possible to be sure of. I'm really torn. On one hand it seems to me that there has to be a god, how else could any of this happened? But on the other hand I keep seeing how religion is just something man made up as a way to explain why things are the way they are and the more we learn scientifically the more outlandish religion will seem.

Anyways that's enough personal conflict for you to read for one day. I"m going to sleep

Christianity to me is not something you force on people, but a gift people stumble into. I hate that I am part of a religion that has taken part in the slaughter of the inoccent people that it claims to save. I feel that true love as expressed through religion and companionship regardless of our differences can solve the worlds problems, and when Christianity is applied as it should be, suffering can be lessened or eliminated.

Even if there is a god, I don't see the point in worshipping him/her all the time for creating us. I'd just be like,"um....thanks?"

concious life is an ambivalent curse, whether you like it or not. I know it sounds emo, but really, without life there would be no pain and so fourth. Without life there would be no concious aknowledgement of lament, joy, regret, anything like that. Thats why I know that when I am about to die, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look foward to. (to quote Donnie Darko).

Hmm, I'm going to stay mostly out of this. All I have to say are two things. First, anthropic principle rules. Who's to say that this is the only universe, or for that matter, the only place where life developed? Second, as to what made the big bang - who knows? Its something we havent discovered. And honestly, I'm happier with it being undiscovered to science, rather to believe that this entire cosmos was put into order by a removed omnipotent being. And besides, what created 'God' anyways? Theres a limit to how far you can regress no matter what type of creation you believe.
