How did this guy get a pro model? He sucks compared to other pros who ride Big Mountain and he hasn't done anything to progress or revolutionize the sport.

I believe you might need a history lesson. Before Nobis came along, 99% of big mountain riding consisted of super tight turns and hip checks. He was one of the first to straightline shit, and one of the first to rip alaskan faces in 3-4 HUGE turns. Nobis deserves a pro model, period.

his video segments may not look spectacular, but ski with him. He is one of the most fluid skiers i have ever seen in my life. He deserves what he has because he also knows what he wants in a ski. After spending a long time on the world cup tour and working closely with R&D he learned how to build a solid ski. It is called the Super Nobis for a reason.

All I know is that he bashes newschool skiing all the time, calls us not 'real' skiers, and then goes and turns in his powder. I know there are many pros out there who could pummel this fool, and at the end actually go off a cliff. He kind of pisses me off to be honest. And to the kid who said that his dad was Nobis' and Davenport's race coach, Your dad must have been one hell of a coach to cause both of them to quit racing and start freeskiing. You might not want to brag about that in the future.

Nobis, during his time was one of the top freeskiers out there. to this date he still has some of the smoothest big mtn style and the expirence to know what hes doing in the backcountry. compared to the jibbers that attempt to ski the shit he skis, they are nothing. get a fucking clue about what your talking about and keep your ass in the terrain park, you would just be showed up by guys like nobis for leaving anyways. fuck you.

For anyone who thinks that Nobis sucks, I'd like to see you ski the same lines that he does, except better. Once you can do that, I'll listen to you. Until then, shut the fuck up.

whgats up with people assoicating cliff drops with 'real' skiing?

dropping cliffs is part of 'real' skiing. its having the balls to fall off of a rock.

'real' skiing is having the balls to drop in on a 3000 ft. 75° face and make it your bitch. or picking a sick ass line through a swamp of trees and making it look hella tasty. having the guts to huck a piece of flesh over a 30+ ft. cliff is not 'real' skiing, its people throwing.

I love how people like to categorize skiing so much. Big mountain, cliffs, park, rails, urban, it's all SKIING. Some people are better at one thing or another, and that's how it is. Nobis is an excellent big mtn rider, guys like Boyd Easley ride park and are damn good at it. Nobis isn't more of a skier than Easley, he just chooses to focus on a different aspect of the sport. That's it. Now, instead of bitching about what 'real' skiing is, go out and SKI.

Im so glad people here stuck up for Nobis. The man is a bad ass skier, definately one of the guys who revolutionized big mtn skiing as we know it today, as much, if not more so than Shane and Seth. he fucking charges, period.

nobis has been killin it for a while, he skis some pretty sick coulairs in high life, like 2500 vertical and like 15 feet wide at a 75 degree pitch, it's fuckin sick

Nobis is and has been the man for years, he skis faster and smoother than 99% of the freeskiers out there and anyone who doesn't resect him should go get a history lesson and quit talking shit.

 
Shit guys, when did I say Nobis Sucks? I said there are people with his same fluid style who are throwing hazards into their lines such as Hugo and Seth. I know he is God's gift to big mountain skiing and was one of the Alaskan pioneers, and he was the originator of what we call 'Big Mountain' today. I also know he straightlines 3,000 foot faces and that he turns 'fluidly.' I have made my opinion based on what I have seen and heard of the guy, and it's probably not going to change. Chill out kids.

And yeah, of course he could beat my ass out of the park but so could every big mountain pro in the world, and for the record I am not a park rat. I ski back-country every day I can, and when I'm not there I'm doing lines in bounds, but you'll only find me in the park in the spring when it's not snowing and everything is tracked out.
