Jeep Union Square Street Sessions... snowboarding... tragically lame.

They just aired this piece of turd "competition" on NBC today.

I cannot believe they gave away $15K in prize money for first place. I was there and thought it was just a promo for Patagonia Sports or whatever... up the street.

Ridiculous... 4 rails... and 10 feet of vert. Thats a competition?

Snowboarding is so f'n lame.. the television needs to get off its nutz.

I was there walking around... and lets just say... the crowd was mostly dead quiet... it was so funny watching the TV broadcast today... with all the dubbed in hooting and hollaring.... I still am amazed that they got the sound " whhhhhooooaaaaaaaaaaa!" dubbed in on one jib I actually watched.

It really wasnt that spectacular... the crowd maybe had 8 diehard fans cheering hardcore.

Pretty funny stuff to watch.

Its almost like the world series of poker with all the poker chips clanging together on constant rotation.

thats funny how they always have bigger price, bigger scene.... everything bigger i guess the sponsor give more.

there was a small contest here in my town and there was 19 snowboarder and for the skiing comp we were 23 and the prize wasnt even comparable even if we were more to participate so more to pay the 25$ fee. The next day on newpapers frontpage was a snowboard on the box set-up, they didnt even talk about skiing in the article. next week they will show all the snowboard final on a new tv show because they filmed all of it but when skier came they decided to leave...

you bitch about the shitty coverage but turn down the idea of skiing halfpipe in the olympics. if exposure in one aspect of the sport opens up more exposure for other aspects then why does it matter, thats what shaun white and the US sweep at the 2002 pipe olympics did.

there is a jib park in downtown toronto called riply's urban rail park and its pretty lame. they completely advertise that it is a snowboard park and have no mention of skiers at all.. alltho we are allowed in the park. i think the public just thinks that skiing is only turning down a hill and snowboarding is just going in a halfpipe and jumping on "grind bars"

word. I was just at a local surf shop today that doubles as a ski/snowboard shop in the winter and it was pretty much all snowboarding. like 4 pairs of some intermediate level carver skis in the corner and that's as far as the skiing merchandise went. everything else was snowboard brands etc. and about 50 different boards in huge displays to choose from as well as jackets/ pants from all snowboarding companies. I asked the guy if they sold any freeskiing products like Armada and he was like whaat? only cool part was I got to look at the lib tech skate banana and the airblaster ninja suit. oh, and for some reason freeskier mails them magazines and they gave me their two issues for free!

who the fuck cares

snowboarders and skiiers are out to do the same thing, have fun on the snow
so stop being a bitch

but yeah i watched a video of that on snowrev...and no one was cheering at all
like dead silence pretty much when the winner was announced
but magoon had some stylie ass shit

he is a rail god

i saw a vid of that and the set up looked pretty legit. that wallride jib was pretty cool . you must not have been paying attention cuz they threw down some hammers. as for cash money, it was the best rail riders in world throwin down in nyc. of course theres gonna be mad cash. plus they had corporate sponsors, like jeep.

gooner got robbed.

dont know what your talking about though, it was a sick setup and competition.
