Hello new desktop wallpaper

yeah im gonna hate, its not that they look all that bad, its just that.. civics n shit are made to be affordable-dependable-economy car, why in the world would anyone be stupid enough to drop all that money into pointless shit to make a slow car-moderately fast, rather than buying per say, a vw gti, which is specifically built to tune, and have increased speed. or really any older vw, and just do a vr6 swap. even imprezas and stuff. oh well, everyone has different opinions, hondas dont deserve ALL the hate they get, just most.

Side note-where i live, everyone that drives those riced to fuck hondas, are THE biggest douchebags around.

Im gonna respect your thoughts, but just so you know. Im a mechanic at a VW dealership and honda's are farrrrr more tuneable than any VW ever will be.

This is fucking hilarious. Sure, the majority of import ricers fucking suck, but to say that your typical Eurofag V-Dub enthusiasts are any better is laughable, and to say that any older VW witha VR6 swap is better than any Honda is straight up fucking retarded.

Standard Civic = standard Golf. You started talking about VR6 swaps and GTIs, yet you failed to mention any of the Type R Hondas, or shit, even the Civic SI.

i dont think you understand that its relatively easy and inexpensive to swap faster honda engines into civics, and its not too much either to turbo them. there are civics with like 600hp but yea they must be such shit.

600hp must be soooo damn fas manggg!.

Golf+vr6 swap=easily done for under 2500

Now do that with a civic

A GTI is a stock car, theirs no swap.

The vr6s swap was simply the comparison of prices from a vw mod to a civic mod

No shit, retard. A Type-R Civic is also a stock car, with no swap. You can just as easily swap in a different engine to a Civic as you can to a shitty old Golf. Your comparison of VW mods to Honda mods is just silly. You clearly don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

ill take a k20 motor over a vr6 any day of the week. vr6 motors make alot of noise but produce no numbers.

ive got a jdm b18c type r motor dropped in my civic and that car is fun as fuck to drive. first car i ever built and ill keep it till i die.

No offense dude but everyone says this about their first build. Like me and my mk2 gti but the fact is when you get some more money you will probably want an upgrade

no offense dude but the car hasnt been my daily driver in 10 years. i own a house and the car has a garage spot...id never get out of the car what ive got in it, so theres no point in selling it.

You actually have no idea what you're talking about, so I'd recommend leaving this thread for good.

And now onto the thread. Hondas. Yes please.

Not so much JDM as fuck, but I was out and about the other day and we ran into a guy some of my friends knew. Completely rebuilt his S2K.

Yeah. That's a really big fucking turbo.

And Civic Si...mmmmmmm

the fact being that most hondas ARE made for efficiency, reliability, and cost effectiveness, with only a few models being performance oriented.

Alright, that's not the part I was focussing on.

It's that he's saying that VWs are built for performance/tuning, which is completely wrong. I spend a lot of time with VW owners, Subaru owners (I own one myself), and Honda owners. Out of those three, Hondas are by far the easiest to tune, and if you do it right they're fast. The only Volkswagons I ever see are bagged rainbow GTIs that look like they can't go faster then 70mph.

ahh I thought you were, my bad. yeah VW's are just as shitty to tune as most hondas.

to all the people saying that honda's are bad to tune you couldnt be anymore wrong.

The majority of honda fan with a motor swapped honda are already better tuners than most euro tuners. The fact they have pulled a motor and swapped a new one in is much more than any vw tuner will do. Most of these motor swaps involve messing around with obd wiring, crafting or installing new motor mounts, and a complete tune to get the car running in daily driver condition.

The most common parts to throw at a vw are a chip, intake, exhaust. All of these are very straight forward. On the other hand you look at honda tuners and they take it a step above as the most common for any somewhat serious honda tuner involves a motor swap, cam gears and shafts, a full tune (hondata), swapping pistons from different motors into theirs for higher compression ratios ( CTR pistons into a b16a or ITR pistons into a b18). Overall i think the VW tuning scene is laughable as it costs so much to do anything serious to a VW and 95 percent of the scene can barely turn a wrench. I find the honda fan boys to be a much more well rounded community. The best thing in the honda scene that a tuner can do is revive a salvage ITR and the honda scene will thank the person who revives the ITR.

Dont forget, for the most part when you modify a honda it will never break unless you start doing something you know you shouldnt have like swapping a b20 block onto a vtec head as these Frankenstein builds are known to not last long due to stress on cylinder walls from piston stroke. If you cam a k20 with supporting mods, it will last a very long time. The overall quality with high end honda tuner parts are fucking a million miles ahead of any VW tuner parts but on the downside you must pay a premium for these parts. 1900 bucks for spoon monoblock calipers, 900 bucks for a spoon throttle body, spoon exhaust headers will cost you 1200.

Another great thing about honda tuners is that they realize that aftermarket parts are not always the best. K20 tuners are always messing around with different oem configurations swapping intakes and cam gears/shafts from other car models into a motor and slapping them on the dyno to see the results (crv, ITR, ep3, fd2) and most of the time it turns out through information sharing in the scene they can come up with an insanely detailed list for simple things like a collection of dynosheets with different intake manifolds installed and what their gains and losses were.

If you assume the honda scene is the body kitted, neon valve stem civic owners sadly you are very wrong.

yes please.

Stock motor with a very large turbo bolted to it. Stock drivetrain and diffs. S2000 can take some serious abuse.

shit breaks on cars you mod. its the nature of the beast. the nice part about it being a toy in the garage is when i get annoyed i just put it away until im ready to deal with it again.

Nicely tuned civic's are fucking nice. Unless you're an idiot like my friend. He buys a 99 civic hatchback with 270xxx km on it, 170xxx km on the b16 swap, things a piece of shit. You could lift up the center console. Sells that to buy a 93 hatchback for $1200, with 350xxx km on the body and like 150xxx km on the D15Z4. Thinking it's v-tec, but it's not. Now he's selling that piece for $1000 because he's running into problems with it.

Anyways. Clean as fuck civic that's for sale in kelowna. $4500, not a bad deal. Do want so much.

its not really an opinion man. i said im never going to sell the car and youre trying to tell me that i will. ill give it to you that a lot of people do sell their cars , but i cant even begin to tell you how many old heads i know that say they wish they never sold their first. fortunately ive got a professional career that allows for financial stability so ive never had to worry about flippin the car because im hard up for cash. i know id regret it someday. ill list my mods when im not on mobile.

I think you'd need custom mounts for an h22a. It's much easier to do a B16a swap price/performance wise imo

I love those NSX's, especially the late models when they got rid of the pop up head lights! Cant wait to see some pics of the new one outside of the auto show!

Didn't know about the mounts. Good to know. On some JDM sites, b16a's are like $1500/$1600 and its a 160hp engine. H22a is like $1700/$1800 and its a 200hp engine. Losing fuel economy with the h22a since its out of a prelude, but its faster.

yeah definitely faster. Back a couple years ago I had a civic coupe and I was looking into doing the same thing that you are. From the small amount of research I did, I decided that it would be way too much effort to do an h22a swap. I mean if you have the time, money, and ambition it would be a fun project though.

the problem you run in to with an h22 swap is oil pan clearance. theres not much room, so you run the risk of ripping it off. i think HA motorsports makes a mount kit. i was actually looking in to doing the h22 but went with the b18 because of the oil pan issue.

Thanks, good info to know! Probably go with a B16 or something like that. I kinda wanna buy a civic that already has work done to it, like the one I posted earlier, but my dad says that I should buy a bone stock one and do the work myself.

quick question: why does everyone refer to swaps as "motor" swaps? I was brought up on the understanding that a motor is electric and the term should be engine. is "motor" just some thing people say for the hell of it?
