I know the majority of this site is dominated by hip hop and rap love, but I wanted to see how many people here are into any Jazz?

for sureee. bop and post bop mainly...Dizzy, Coltrane, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderley (and Nat Adderly), Harold Land, Clifford Brown, Duke Ellington, Coleman Hawkins, Gerry Mulligan. It's incomparable.

I played in my high school jazz band and still get together with some people and session on occasion. my number one preset on the car radio is the jazz station in Denver, as they always have new programming on, and I've rarely heard the same song twice, and they have a lot of recordings that are done in their own studio so you cant hear them anywhere else.

im a big fan of sonny rollins and early herbie hancock. and sun ra is probably my favorite.

ramsey lewis, airto, charles kynard, donald byrd, lonnie smith, richard "groove" holmes, the earth disciples are some others

check out his "complete prestige recordings". its like a six disc set of all of his work on that label and its all amazing.

I love jazz.
I like the classics...Miles, the bird, coltrane, sonny, herbie, cannonball
BUT
you guys should really look into newer people like joshua redman, kenny garret, michael brecker

Check out "The Bad Plus"... 3 peiceensamble (drums, piano, bass). Somewhat abstract, but sounds very good, they do a lot of covers, like Teen Spirit.
