Jason Levinthal and Skiboards

So I know plenty of you guys love line and hate skiboards. Most people (including himself these days) like to believe that Jason only started off in the skiboarding industry to get his foot into skis. I think this video shows him in a totally different lite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjOIhatMk6w I already know that some of you are fine with skiboarding, but I also know that there are some on here like that like to feel elitist and call them gay. Don't bother. I just wanted to clear up a bit of revisionist history goin on with your roots. We all should be riding for the love of riding, not for your image.

whether people like the fact or not, skiboarding has had A HUGE INFLUENCE on skiing. The first twin tip skis were skiboards (not counting heating up your tails and bending them). J's ideas were revolutionary, and what Line is doing with skis is also. First they made skiboards, then other companies hopped on that. Then they made fat skis, and companies hopped on that.

A common belief is that Jason invented the skiboard and paved the way for the twin tip...but a full two years before he started making skiboards Michael Canon, Tayt Tindall and Victor Holtorf founded Klimax Skiboards. In 1996 when line started throwin out boards to the public... Michael Canon founded Canon Skiboards and Jarred and Kary Parrelmutter founded GrooveUSA Skiboards. The reason many people give credit to Jason is because he was releasing these boards on the east coast, while the other two companies were located on the west coast. All of these people helped pave the way for skiboarding, not just J-Lev alone.

Skiboarding and twin tip skiing have alot more in common than people choose to believe. There are high quality skiboards(Revel8) out there, but most people ride small, skinny, and shitty skiblades.

I even forgot to mention the Powder Company (www.powdercompany.com) That company created twin tip fat skis that were shaped like snowboards by Matt Merckel supposedly in 1992, however they used softshell snowboard boots and never were really put into widespread production. So along with Canon and Groove, Powder Company was also making twintips at the same time or before Line. J-Lev was not the mastermind

someone made a skiboarding thread earlier that has got the attention of many skiboarders from SBOL

so expect to see more on NS
