This coming from someone who's not even Japanese (I think) means a lot. As most of us asian countries don't necessarily get along too well.
To follow up what Mitch said. I just find it truly incredible how country side Japanese people live. I grew up the last 17 years in the states and now that i've moved here. I'd say 90% of Americans need a reality check. Little power, no aircon (and mind you it gets hot in Japan. Try 90+ wit 85% humidity. its not fun), no phones, little money, no car, and that is just to say the least. And yet even though they live like this, they all remain happy. You could go up to any of them and they would all say they're having a good time. You just won't find people like the Japanese, anywhere.
