Japan just got hit with a 7.9 earthquake

make that 8.8 actually

8 POINT MOTHERFUCKING 8. just saw on the news. and 32 foot tsunamis predicted. HOLY. SHIT.
 
I'm in Hokkaido now and we felt it for a while. Definitely the longest quake I have ever felt. Really bad down south though, it caused some tsunamis and hit coastal towns really hard. Hope everyone is okay because by the looks of things some towns were completely destroyed.
 
I feel bad for them, but at least they where prepared

Its on the news. Videos of the rushing water and aftermath of the waves were just shown. Holy shit. It was ripping the bridge completely apart.
 
just make sure that you stay at least 32 feet above sea level tonight. you should be fine.
 
CNN. Its got live shots and shit. Cars floating around and stuff. Gnarly. I guess the worst part hasn't even hit. Theres like a massive wave out in the ocean moving closer and closer to shorelines. Fucking crazy.
 
Yeah, it was a big one. My building was really shaking and creaking. Pretty scary and lasted a long time. And the aftershocks are still going on as I'm typing.

I've been watching the news, and yeah, big tsunami. its probably gonna be pretty nasty, as about now is the time kids are gonna be around on the streets walking home from school.

I've got a good friend on the southern coast of Hokkaido where there's warnings of the Tsunami moving up to hit. I hope she's gonna be ok, at least they have some warning so they can evacuate.
 
The distance from where I felt it and where it happened is really far. I can only imagine near the epicenter. The Japanese media is going crazy right now, fires everywhere and some very bad tsunamis.
Japan is probably the most equipped for an earthquake and it is still hitting insanely hard. If this had been anywhere else it would have been total devastation.
 
Its on TV. This is unbelieveable. Its like a huge slide/wave of mud and houses and debri with fire just destroying everything in its path. Its live too. Some cars with people in them got fucked up. Im sure they are goners.
 
Yeah no kidding. This is scary shit. Theres traffic jams of cars trying to escape and people running for their lives. Its sad.

Japanese guys who live next door to me are extremely concearned....
Seeing as they have had quakes in the past that were pretty big, an theyre semi-used to them, that's saying something...

Alot of my colleagues were playing it kinda cool when the earthquake and aftershocks actually hit, as they feel them frequently. (And in Hokkaido, we're a long way from the epicentre) But now that the news is coming in about how serious it was, there are alot of serious and concerned faces. Alot of calls being made to relatives.

8.9 makes it the 7th strongest earthquake ever.

Holy crap... vibes like no other. I saw this on the news and my eyes have been glued to the screen... shit's more than intense. I hope there aren't too many lives lost, though the cynic in me knows better...
