Jam at UBC

The set up is looking better an better every day. If anyone has an truck or two floating around hit me up. We got a giant pile of snow lined up and autos to haul it with. But more def make it easier and who doesn't like more snow?

So here's the deal. We have hella rails all built tested and ready to go but we've started getting warnings and threats from the UBC admin that if we (UBC Ski and Board Club) try and hold the event we could likley lose our club status because of the liability issues....so...the event is unfortunatly cancelled. :(

BUT WAIT ;)... through some miracle of the snow gods a group of INDIVIDUALS have decided to bring in a set up that looks oddly similar to the former stated one and have decided to set it up at the exact same place, on the exact same date, and you guessed it... at the exact same time.

So show up at the UBC Knoll after 1pm on November 7th and you might just find a random gathering of people throwing out shwag and sliding on some sort of icy shiny like material and over various objects resembling down bars with donkey dicks, polejams over terrified asians, and flatbars that heart pretzls.

Sound good? Good. See y'all there

Yeah... I have to say, I'm a little sketched. I mean, I'll be there anyway, but I'm pretty sure you won't get this thing set up before they tell you to get your shit off the knoll. It will take a while to set up multiple jibs on that thing. We'll see what happens, and I'm pulling for you, and hopefully people will bring shovels so it goes down. But I expect you'll have immediate run-ins with campus security.

If it doesn't go down and people want to have a beer, I'm going to try to find a projector and some speakers for a makeshift showing of either Turbo or Reasons (or both) in the Curtis building that afternoon.

It's all there just practice dem english readin' abilities

O and even if shit were to get broken up, we got a back up plan no worries.

fucking math exam!! I'll be there 12 to 2 then I have to drag my ski shit to Geo building to write my exam.. then if it's still on at three.. ill be backk....

I have my shovel too, should I show up early to help set up could you guys use the extra hands or are you good?

yea.. i dont think im gonna take the bus for an hour and a half and skip a day of school if its rainy...

i take that statement back james, it's raining pretty hard.

as for the railjam, does anyone know what's happening? it's absolutely pouring outside and i'm keen to come out, it's just i'm gonna be little mad if i get out there, it's raining, AND there's no railjam.

update?please??

yo,

I can't speak on behalf of the guys who are running it but I've heard its still going on. I'll be there at 1 with my skis, so you won't be the only one for sure.

just talked with andrew and he's glanced at the SUB and seen no evidence of any set up as in no snow, rails, or skiers...We both figured the jam would be postponed to a later date with more skier friendly weather to accompany the jam.. But hey its only 11:15 and lots can happen within 2ish hours so dont let my lil' update stop you from headin out there... just what i've heard

it's too late for me. i was told it wasn't going down so i went home [from sfu]. now by the time i get out there, it won't be worth it.

I just walked by the knoll...No one there. I didn't see anyone by the learning center either (I was at Koerner like half an hour ago). i guess we have been rained out.

It's all good though... given the shitty weather it would not have

worked anyway. We should do one in the spring on the knoll, when there

is sun, and the possibility (given adequate lobbying) of UBC

acquiescing.

chapped. this has been on my calendar for the past 3 weeks. i wouldn't even be so frustrated if it was at least cold enough to snow on the mountains, but it's warm as all hell and pissing.
