jaime pierre's 235 foot attempt

yea 235 isn't instand death. My parent's friend was skydiving and her parachute didn't open and she free fell.. i dont know the exact height but she survived it, she broke like every bone in her body, she was in the hospital forever and never really recovered

i read that article today in the doctors office. they kind of made jamie look like an asshole but whatever thats skiing magazine for ya. hope he makes it out alive and hed def. gain more respect from me just for trying that shit

ok,that would be the most deranged thing i have ever seen in my entire life, i would cry if he landed it, and i would worship him forever

im just caught in the grip of the city......madness' del

do u know the longest free fall ever was something over 10 minutes? this guy ejected from his airplane, got caught in a cumolonimbus cloud. these clouds are what make hail, hail goes through cycles that keep going up and down the cloud for minutes. that is how states get hail the size of beach balls they keep going. well this guy got caught in on of those and his parachute was totally torn, and he was beaten to nothing. but he fell down like 10 minutes later and barely survived

that is the fucking dumbest thing i have ever heard, i hope you are joking. How the fuckkkk do you get stuck in a cloud, there is absolutley no way that can happen.

hitting the ground from any jump over about 50m would be like getting hit by a car at 200km/h or 135mph, beyond that it obviously doesn't get any worse. so i s'pose it is survivable MAYBE, if you collected some tree braches on the way down or something

He didn't throw a Lincoln off of a 160 footer, he straight aired it.

right so lets get things straight, terminal velocity is, in lamens terms, when you stop accelerating, right. after so long falling, you reach a point where you can no longer go any faster, this is terminal velocity. this depends on the mass not weight of the person or object. he wont be landing on flat so it shouldnt be like getting hit by a car, secondly the world record freefall with a parachute was at 74,700 feet.
http://www.centennialofflight.gov/essay/Dictionary/kittinger/DI29.htm

and without a parachute was 33,330 ft.

(look up 'Highest Fall Survived Without A Parachute' onhttp://www.guinnessworldrecords.com

Terminal velocity does not depend on mass, it depends on an objects wind resistence.Without wind resistence you would continue accelerating forever. Everything falls at the same rate no matter what mass it has (one of newtons laws), but if you haven't noticed things do fall at different rates becasue each object produces a different amount of wind resistence. therefore only in a vacuum will everything fall at the same rate. so depending on the type of clothes and size skis he is wearing he will travel slightly slower or faster. i talked to my physics teacher about it so he shouldn't reach terminal velocity but from my point of view there is a good chance he will die or be seriously injured. good luck i wouldn't ever do it cause i be freaky as shit!

umm no im sorry but heavier things do fall faster. So things with greater mass do fall faster period. It goes back to the wind resistance thing you are talking about, a heavy object can break through the wind or divert the air particles in its way easier than a object with less mass

how much does peirre weigh? i'll get back to you about the whole heavier mass goes faster. besides it sounds like we agree more than we disagree on how the aceleration thing works.

'I've never done this so it might take me a few tries'-some chic

here we go.all objects (regardless of their mass) free-fall with the same acceleration - 10 m/s/s. all objects free-fall at the same rate of acceleration regardless of their mass because they all weigh the same, because they all have the same gravity, because the air resistance is the same for each,

and for everbody who is still confused go this this site and it will explain everything perfectly,

are people figureing he's landing on a surface of something that is hard? i think that his landng would have some give to it, idk like some pow? so its not like he's hitting a car more like a marshmellow then a car

first of all, the Dirty 'Dide hit a gigantic hip with a perfect landing, and since he went that distance UP then down, he didn'd gain that much speed, but JP will be gaining speed the whole time, and since his landing will be natural, and therefore imperfect, and he will either land it with no style and fuck himself up, or he will land it wrong and die. Too bad, he's a good guy.

sorry, i replied to the first page, not knowing that there were four more. but the argument still stands. ALSO, the people who survived after falling out of planes were FREAK OCCURANCES, and since Jamie Pierre is a freak, he should be al right.

does targhee get enough pow for him to do it? wouldn't it be wiser for him to huck off a cliff with more pow below??

Air resistance is proportional to surface area w/ respect to the plane of accelleration. This is why a parachute works the way it does.

Targhee gets around 500 inches.

235 ft is crazy...plain and simple, but I really don't like Jaime Pierre after watching his seg in High Life. His segs are so much cooler when he doens't talk. He seems like a huge prick. No doubt he's crazy and it's cool to see someone just let themselves fall, but that height is too insane. Good luck to him though.

well utah has been getting a lot of snow in the last 50 hours. maybe this might be done soon.

Okay, here's the deal kids.

The successfully landed world record was by John Treman, who stuck a 165 footer in tahoe 10-15 years ago. Paul Ruff, tried breaking that record in the Kirkwood backcountry a few years later. He made one to many turns before getting to the edge, and he hucked, landed on rocks, killing himself.

A few years later, I think the dudes name was hearns?- he was a Kiwi. He hucked like 220 feet onto a hard, flat landing and ruptured his spleen amongst other things.

Hucking 235 is not only possible, it will be done SOON, I guarantee it. It's dumping hard everywhere right now, conditions are getting deep!

I think most people here saying it's not possible to do it without getting hurt haven't hucked into super-light, super-deep snow we sometimes get out west here. I swear, some days you could huck that big, land on your head and be okay as long as someone was there to dig you out. Really dry pow is MUCH less dense than water, and people have cliff dove over 150 feet!

It'll take big balls just to keep your composure in the air for that long, but I don't think it's really that dangerous, if you:

A. Have a good cliff with a clean, STEEP, landing

B. Have a ton of light, dry, and deep to land in

C. Stay patient and wait for the right conditions, others got jacked up for not following these guidelines....peace

whats the east coast record for a cliff huck to blue ice landing? i think my record was probably 20 feet but it wasnt really blue ice. just bulletproof white ice. hurt like a bitch too.

West-you obviously AREN'T paying attention. Hearns hucked 220 onto hard pack and flat. In deep light pow, with a steep landing you could huck 235 easily, ski away and head to the bar to score on your girlfriend. Pay attention gaper...

im not sure it should be considered easy. but i think its something that can be done. it will be done.

longest free fall is actually by a guy who took a weather balloon type thing up to 130,000feet and jumped and was in free fall for 13 minutes almost breaking the sound barrier with his body.

buddy: yeah, I have no idea whats going on.

Bundo: yeah dude, girls are the worst thing to happen to guys but the best thing at the same time

its definately possible, and it is not instant death as some of you had said.

235 ft, into 50+ inches on pow onto a super steep slope...certainly not death.

Im sure when he does it, its not going to be some random thing, its going to be a spot that he has scoped for a loong time beforehand.

when he hits though if the snow is deep enuff he could be buried and die like as if he were in an avalanche

at alyeska a fat kid dropped a 40 footer and got stuck in the snow all we could see was him waving his little pole and we couldnt even hear him so we had to hike up and dig him out and once he was out he was breathing really hard and said he felt like he was gonna die

How can i progress without my little Emily A.K.A. Blue Smurf STEEZE

he could ...but that is a risk he is just gonna have to take huh?
