I am headin to jackson for the season really soon for the first time.

any inside word on the scene? like what is the town like and what about good BC booters and hitch-hiking?

I hear that the lower mtn gets a temp inversion which could be the only down side. and the snow is plentiful... damn I can't wait.

I can't hold it for much longer...

I'm going to be working at the resort so I'm sure I'll learn lots quick... but are there any jackson locals here? or are they all beyond the hype and just living real...

I'm going to jackson on Dec 26th for my first time outside of PA skiing. I'm probably going to be in aww of real snow to the point where i forget how to ski. Anyways, I'm really stoked. They have over 2' already.

There's a couple guys on here that live in the JH area... I used to. It's not all that bad, I think I ran into more of the tightwad rich motherfuckers in that town than most people did cause I played hockey there too. The mountain, is awsome, sometimes the conditions are hit and miss. Like, well, it could be cold and windy as hell at the summit, then you get down to the hobacks or something and it's warm and the snow is melting. Pow days are like non-other, and you gotta love some of the cliff bands, although some of them are not smart to attempt without prior experience. Steeps, Trees, Pow, Cliffs, and well, Jackson Hole isn't THAT bad of a town. I lived on the Idaho side, so I skied the pass, it was on the way... Lots of fun, just make some friends in the area and it's a good time. Just be prepared for it, I'd say it's a big jump coming from PA, and enjoy!

any trails i should look for or avoid? quiet sides of the mountain? shorter lift line areas, best cliff areas/tree/steeps etc.?

stay away form the tram on pow days. to the skiers left of the tram there is a quad and a bowl, i believe it is called laramie bowl. stay on that. if the tram lines arent to bad lap the hobacks

i'm heading there from NH via the washington coast. job fair this weekend. free pass (that they sell for over $1900).

there is virtually no lines at jackson really, the gondola will have some lines every now and then, but the other lifts up on the mountain arn't bad at all. if u want to hike a little bit, the headwall is a nice bowl to go down. u can hike up from the top of the gondola, or u can go through some black diamonds and take a back way off of the thunder(or sublette) whichever is higher up. casper bowl is supposed to be pretty good too, i didn't get a chance to go down it last time i was there.

Loc here, jackson's the shit, just not everyone knows it. which is a good thing. Theres not really any lines except for for holidays, but its nothing compare to other major resorts that have half the gnarness. I get pissed if i have to wait in line for more than a min, unless its the tram, and thats usually no longer than 30 mins unless its a pow day. Get first tram on a pow day, then leave it alone. Parks good, pipes shorts, but superpipe walls and a rope tow make it nice. Cliffs everywhere, there always soft landings if you know where to look. unlimited ob. score. Hitch hiking shouldn't be a problem, but if you're working for the mountain you'll probably get a bus pass and that will get you wherever you need to go. I'll prob. see you in the park or somewhere, im out there everyday.

how can the hometown of the JHAF not be sick terrain? they sounded like they used to be some badass mother fukers. i relally wanna ski there, hopefully i can make it out next year. not many people vacation there cuz its a bitch to get to, so the lines shouldnt be too bad.

Wait, why does this responsibility get put on me. Im only one man. Im doing the best i can(oscar attempt). Anyway, i told him what he needs to no to keep him stoked. LMP, i said 30 mins unless it was a powder day.

oh yeah, and about the temp inversion. thats kinda rare. i only really happens on really cold sunny days. So don't work about that.
