Hey, I've never been before and have an opprtunity to ski for 6 days out there from Jan 2nd through the 9th. Wondering what type of snow can be expected at this time of the year? I know it varies often but what kind of skiing could be expected? I'm from Vermont so I'm used to skiing the east coast and looking forward to some powder... would it be found in Jackson at this time of the year?? Thanks for all the help.

There could be chest deep blower or an inch of boiler plate on the rocks. Throw away any misconceptions you have about the mythical west and come prepared to ski any type of snow; the winters out here have been weird since the drought started. Regardless of conditions you should have a good time, there's a ton of stuff to do on that mountain. I'll probably be heading out there around the beginning of January too, so I hope the snow is good!

if jackson is crowded or lacking snow head over to targhee, its an easy 30-40 minute drive, way cheaper, less crowded and generally has more snow

Hey Ron3455....just wondering do you go to Villanova and are going on the trip to Jackson, cause those are the same dates.

Also ive heard corbets needs a lot of snow until it opens. Does anyone know if it normally opens by the beginning of January???

well i don't know when it usually opens but jackson's season has started dismally from what i've heard and judging from snow king's webcam and their delayed opening

Hey Guys,

I just got back from being in Jackson for 4 days and it was pretty sick for this time of year; most of the mountain is open and they had their best pow day of the season this past Thursday; I was making fresh tracks in knee to thigh-deep blower pow in the backcountry without hitting anything underneath really.... lower mountain is a little thin in places but the upper mountain is amazing right now. Wayyy better than when I was there for a week last March. Jack has been gettin dumped on, over 170 inches on the upper mt. so far and more to come; you guys will not be dissapointed.

weather.com???

Hey all, my kid will be out there with the UVM group also... he is looking to film, he has a camera and beginner skills, help the kid out to learn to ski powder. JUST KIDDING! about the skills part.

Anyways.... nipples will be there. so find him with the UVM kids and go do some skiing, he is super stoked for this trip and is looking for kids who can ski off trail. He is worried that this club might all be noobs with no skills only going to JH for the party. I don't think he wants to do any park but if you have some BC booters built take him along.

This is kind of late to be announcing. But for what it is worth, I will be at Jackson staying at the Snow King until the 9th - I will wearing a Bright Blue Orage Jacket, I should be around the parks but will be looking for powder.

So yeah - it is always fun to meet fellow NS'ers and thier home mountains. DON"T BE SHY say hello, I am an old guy on twin tips (05 Karmas) I always have NS stickers with me so hit me up.

My son - nipples will be there too, we will be filming a bunch. So yeah!

im in jackson right now and sweet.. ive been here sense dec 29.. and it sick condition.. just got a dumping of snow on sat.. approx 15inch.. waste deep pow in some places.. seems to snow everyday here.. min of like 2inch a night

I saw a ton or twin tippers that look like NS'ers. here in JH.. I guess I'll do the sketchy old guy routine and ask them.. HEY! you on NS!!

dude we ran into some kids on the pass and they were fuckin pricks. We were hikin in the BC and came across their jump and wants to keep goin up and they were freakin at us telling us to go down and shit. Then said they had been throwin dub corks all morning on a jump the I would have to throw hard to do a 7 on. Not friendly kids. Most of the old guys were rad tho.

My brother moved out to JH for the winter, and they have been getting so much snow within the past month. He went out today to the Hoback's had some really nice powder that was waist deep. Im going out to visit him on the 28th, and i hope that this snow keeps on going.
