Jacket ----> Vest

Inspired by the infamous Nick Martini, but i've seen multiple newschoolers rockin the g suit vest. I was wearing the g suit last year and I saw a thread where someone said they cut the sleeves off and put a zipper on to make it into a vest/jacket. Common sense tells me it would be best to go to a tailor for this but the thing i'm mind blown about is how one would cut the sleeves off with the vents on the side of the jacket. I don't have any pictures but the zipper starts from like halfway down the side and goes up the arm. It looks like the zippered vent would have to be cut in like half? I don't know maybe this is a stupid question but I don't see how it would be possible to cut the sleeves without ruining the jacket. I know it's been done but can someone fill me in on this? Or would it be better/cheaper to just not make the sleeves re-attachable?

Only askin gon newschoolers first because I don't want to seem like an idiot walking into the tailor store or they tell me it's not possible!Thanks guyss

you'd need a separate zipper on each "new" vent. its possible just kind of a hassle that I'm not sure would be worth the time and effort. just sew up the vents, but still make the sleeves re-attachable.

take it to a tailor and have them quote you.

the local tailor quoted me $30 per sleeve to be vested with zippers when I brought in my g suit.

But whatd they do with the vent situation going on under the arm? There's already a zipper there, did they just cut thru it?

I never had it done, sold that shit for a fucking goldmine. the woman did look it over and say she could do it professionally though. idk what that entails.
