Jack Edwards, Boston Bruins Commentator

Not sure how many hockey fans are on here, but I just wanted to make a thread talking about how big of a cunt Jack Edwards is.

1. His voice is annoying.

2. His unnecessary commentary on fights is always aggravating because he talks shit about who ever tries to fight Lucic or Chara, and let's face it, he's too much of a pussy to be able to say that to their face, if he were given the opportunity. Like when Scott tried to fight Lucic a while back, Lucic cheap shots Scott in the face and then backs away because Scott's a monster. Then Edwards is talking about how pathetic it is that Scott would try to fight Lucic simply because Boston is such a good team and Buffalo sucks. Scott's an enforcer, Lucic is a goon, of course Scott's gona try to fight Lucic you stupid shit head.

3. As previously stated, he's a cunt.

Any Boston fans that agree he's sucks more dick than I do on a friday?

he's hell of a homer but he's actually a decent play by play.

also theres a multipager NHL thread

Your thread gets my El_Barto terrible thread of the day nomination. Tune in every week to see which shitty member makes the worst thread.

fuck off el barto no one gives a fuck what you gotta say.

and yes i agree, Edwards is a cunt.

Canucks fan here. I think you'll agree that I have plenty of credibility when it comes to hating the Bruins.

Jack Edwards is the best play by play guy in US hockey broadcasting. Period.

He's even better than a lot of the Canadian regional guys... provided it's not against Montreal. When they play the habs he starts editorializing and you get the "goes down as if shot - GET UP" type of calls. But 90% of the time, his description, tone, ability to call big moments, is outstanding.

Brickley is annoying, but that' true of a lot of colour guys. You know what's bad PBP? No-selling the opponents' big moments because they're not the home team. That's annoying. Edwards doesn't do this. Listen to this package.

or this call of a Lundqvist save.

He's just GOOD.

I couldn't agree with this more. Jack Edwards gets me into the games, even the meaningless mid-season filler games. He always calls it like it's the season on the line and keeps it exciting. He throws in a lot of bruins bias, which is awesome, he's a NESN announcer, it's his job. I don't know what you're talking about OP, Jack Edwards is a legend.

OP give a legit reason why he's a cunt...

Jack is the best commentator out there currently IMO. Like J.D.said he really isn't that biased until it comes to rivalry games such as with the Habs. Then again he is paid to be biased.

Lets talk about Pierre for a minute...whole other story

I think he does a fantastic job of play by play descriptions. The one thing that always gets me is when the "puck rattles off the boards!"

Give it a rest, op. Even J.D. thinks he's good, and he hates the Bruins as much as anyone I've seen on NS.

'alright lets go down to pierre mcguire down near the ice to get his insight, pierre?'

'well as you can see the away team is wearing white helmets tonight'

'thanks pierre'

"Thanks, Jack. I think the situation we have here is a classic case of one team outscoring the other. If they want it to be a closer game they will have to score more goals without letting the other team score."

He's a good commentator who is of course biased because he's a goddamn NESN announcer. Remember, it's Boston you're dealing with

Isn't that his job? I mean, this isn't hockey but still listen to the fucking announcers:

I cannot watch a game with the White Sox announcers. They are HORRENDOUS bitching about Pierzynski getting ejected once for chirping at the umpire when it was a frame job that Stevie Wonder could have seen:

Sorry for the double post but what gets me most about that Pierzynski vid is how they are like:

"Aj had a legitimate complaint with that pitch's location"

LOL, no he didn't, that shit was such a horrid framejob and the ball was below Smoak's knees when it came across.

This is the video that inspired me to go on my rant about Edwards. I agree that he is a god commentator, as are most in the NHL and he knows what he's talking about, it's a shame he couldn't commentate the olympic slopestyle, because I feel like he would've taken the time to figure out what to actually say, in order to do a good job. Still, there are times like in this video when I really wish he would stop talking.

Um they're basically right. John Scott isn't really a hockey player. Lucic is a huge d-bag, but at least he can play the game reasonably well (not as well as you think, B's fans). What does he gain by taking himself off the ice for 5 minutes? Buffalo, as terrible as they are (and they are the worst team in the NHL by a mile) are even worse when John Scott is playing for them. Why would he give them the advantage of that trade-off?

Or, as Kevin Bieksa put it, “If a 6-foot-8 guy who can’t skate asks to fight, you say no, then skate around him and score a goal.”

Don't forget he also had to cry when Scott knocked out Boston's hero Thornton and used him as a punching bag.

but either way, homers do what they're paid to, but he does go too far a lot.

Where was he crying? He only pointed out facts and actually gave Scott some respect for being such a good fighter and imposing presence. Was he crying when he said that Scott is less talented than the whole Bruins roster? He's not wrong. ~3 minutes average ice time per game speaks for itself.
