J skis - metal vs Moment - Deathwish

Hey everyone!

I’m buying some new all mountain planks. I’m 6’4 and 100kg, advanced skier. I want something that is stable and smashes crud seeing I ski in Australia. I already have a pair of punx so looking for the 100+ underfoot. I’ve settled on the two skis the 186 metal and the 190 Deathwish. Only thing I’m worried about is the Deathwish being a bit big for being a resort ski. Being in Australia most the skiing I do is resort, having fun in the ungroomed / back spots and airing off cornices etc.

Any advice or reviews I’d be very grateful.

Deathwish more of a playful ski even in the 190cm with the Wildcat being more of the playful charger. The new Commander 108 would be the better comparison to the Metal and if you go to the Moment site, there is a person who reviews the Metal, the Cochise and others to it. Thought the Commander 108 was the best of the bunch.

Thanks a ton for considering The Metal! You've definitely narrowed it down to two awesome options, so whatever you go with you're definitely in good hands. Also appreciate someone posting the Blister reviews, those dudes know skis like noneother so definitely read what they have to say!

In addition, check out some of our Customer Reviews for The Metal skis. These are everyday skiers just like you so their feedback will help paint a picture of how the Metal will feel for you:https://jskis.com/products/wolf-walk#reviews

The Deathwish 190 is by no means too big to be a resort ski, especially at your height / weight / skier ability. A good chunk of our employees ski the Deathwish every day, with most of them being on the 190.

At 6'2" and 70 kg, I don't have any issues ripping the DW190 around in all conditions.

Yeah at 6 4 the 186 Metal might be kinda short. I'm 6 3 86 kg and all my skis are longer than 190 (given to do prefer longer skis for landings)

Thanks everyone for the input, it is much appreciated.

The main thing I'm worried about is that in Australia we deal with a lot of ice and garbage, I guess like somewhat east coast skiing is rumored to be. I have always had a passion for Moment skis and have wanted a pair, i just have some weird hesitation that the Metal is going to be just as versatile for the good snow but somewhat better for the bad snow than the Deathwish.

Maybe i should just stop doubting myself and get the Deathwish and if it becomes a wild ride on ice learn to love it! :D

Pretty sure the deathwish will grip just as well if not better due to its triple camber

We guarantee it will not be a wild ride on ice. The triple camber design is there to help on ice and crappy snow.

yupp, also the 190 is a better size for your lanky self. I had the Deathwish for a 1 ski quiver for 3 seasons. Love that ski.

Nah, I ski both regularly. The Metal is damper and better at high speeds in firm snow, but the Deathwish is still great in firm / variable conditions. And it's way better than the Metal in good snow.

scratched my day late and dollar short opinion/reco. It was worthless diatribe and you had already made your decision.

Enjoy the DW's
